Well there’s a surprise

 

It worries me when a big striker says he’s not a target man and he wants the ball to feet. It somehow suggests he’s not going to punch his weight. The only centre forward I ever wrote off on first appearance was Brian Sawyer whom we got in a swap from Rotherham for Barry Webster. He ended up in midfield for us. I need to see more of Guthrie but if he’s not a target man he needs to offer a lot more speed and skill with his feet than he showed last night.

 

Fordy wrote Mcartan off long ago. It doesn't count that he scored two yesterday and a cracker against Swindon. They were just lucky blips, even though he's had little game time.
In the end it's just the law of averages. Call numerous players crap and you are bound to get quite a few right.

 

With Devitt I wonder if the club decided to teach him a lesson for his act of rash stupidity and decreed that he should miss more than one match. Maybe he took it badly and we decided on a further match ban. Or maybe he’s picked up a knock.

 

Does the 6 second rule still apply for keepers. Noticed a few times last night that both keepers held on to the ball well beyond that.

 

Much of course will depend which division we’re in.

 

I don't think the club punish players with additional games like that.

McCall apparently said some players might have lacked a bit of fitness when he came - so it could be that he is one of them, especially given he's not been back from his injury for long.

It also does him no favours that he is a loan player, the quota is stretched, whereas McCartan is one of our own contracted players. We are wasting a loan spot with the keeper on the bench at the minute too.

 

Credit where credit is due, you were one of the first to spot that Bowyer was sh|te and first to call him out, even when everybody argued to give him more time you were adamant. Fair play.

 

He calls anyone and everyone sh1te, that wasn't Fordy calling anyone out. That was Fordy being Fordy.

 

Don't think any club would impose an extra ban, would be cutting off their nose to spite their face.

 

Yeah you’re right but if he’s fit it’s surprising he’s not been in last two squads. Might just be lack of fitness.

 

We have five loan players currently, we can have the lot in the matchday squad if so desired. 5 is the Maximum.
Had 6 before the transfer deadline. Oteh went back to QPR, Palmer went back to Rotherham (before going to Swindon), then aquired Middleton from Rangers.

Also we only had 3 in the squad last night. Cooke was injured and Devitt not selected.

 

Is Mottley-Henry not a loan then?

 

I think positionally phenomenal is being, Slightly generous jon. Reeves actually flicks the ball on for their centre half to almost score from that throw in, and most likely wouldnt have reached the cross from wood.

Ah ok, I thought we had loaned him until the end of season. Fair enough RE the loan quota then.

 

Good point about the keeper, i actually felt him better than o'donnell when he came in (aside from kicking continually for touch against cheltenham) but he seems pretty pointless now. I suppose he could be on the bench rather than GSK or Devine as mottley-henry is our home grown player now
