Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time, most were happy to see the last of Patrick. Riley we barely saw anything of so little argument there. Devine split opinion, but many were happy to see him gone.

Personally I didn’t begrudge any of them leaving but this was with the expectation new signings would be an improvement. Right now, there’s an argument at least 2 of the 3 walk into our team. When our injuries are fit, maybe 1 at a push, and likely none.

That said, I’d take Patrick over DMH any day of the week. However I’d also back my 4yr old having more of an impact on the pitch than him.

Those quoting Devine make me laugh. The lad had hardly played at Carlisle yet somehow he's better than what we currently have. I wish Danny nothing but success but he didn't do nearly enough to earn a new contract at City.

Feeling pretty hopeful of getting a win today. I don't know whether its desperation kicking in already but this run of form must come to an end soon.

Nobody is saying he's better than what we have, it's just strange reading fans calling him out as a weakness in the Carlisle squad when, in Sutton, we've pretty much replaced like for like in terms of ability.

They wouldn't be mentioning him if they didnt think he was better. Personally i don't think Devine is any better than Sutton, both are bang average squad players in league 2. Neither of them should be playing for Bradford City, as a club we should be aiming higher than that.

I completely agree. The point was that it's strange we're pointing out targeting Devine as a weakness when our squad is full of players of similar ability.

And Devine didn’t have the hair trigger that Sutton clearly has.Cringe every time he’s reaching for the ball or a split second late.

i dont think anyone is saying Devine is a world beater. He is no worse though than some members of this current squad and would offer far more in my opinion than DMH , longridge , BRE , Guthrie and Sutton and Izmail who can string 2 games togethor beetween them.
Also being a Bradford lad , it would have meant more to him, the others just dont seem to give a damn , no matter what Stuart says, about the players feeling our pain. They wont be here next season, lets hope we and Bradford city are. 40+ years and never felt so down about my football club.

Strangely enough i think the same 2-0 victory no idea where the goals will come from let alone keep a clean sheet
Could be desperation as you say but so unusual for me to positive
Downside is the disappointment at full time will be worse

Devine, Riley and Patrick were all crap and were all rightfully let go. The fact that we've managed to somehow recruit worse than them in the likes of DMH and Sutton is a damning indictment of just how bad our business has become.

Football is a simple game. Pick a formation that works at the level you play at, sign players to fit your formation, stick with it and don't adjust it each week to match your opposition (let them worry about you) and only change your team due to injury/ serious loss of form or confidence.

Stuart is doing exactly the opposite it every point mentioned.

Some optimism on here this morning. Not sure if it’s blind or desperation for points now.
Squad still looks threadbare. Same defence. I can’t see anything than a defeat. We may score but thinking 1-2 or 1-3 to them.
Best thing we can hope for is a 1-1 imo. Hope I’m wrong. Come on city. But remember they keep on fighting

Not just Stuart. It's been happening for the past couple of years which is why we are where we are.

Although the poll says different I got up this morning and agreed with you, Bantamsteve and others about a win. Lovely winter morning, ideal for a good afternoon. Then I read SM in the Y Post! "They (Carlisle) are in the top six and deservedly so. They have... a lot of vibrancy and energy and...playing with confidence".
I hope bouncing in the coach through the Dales knocks some of that out of them. They beat Salford mid week although SM says the crowd helped, fair point but then suggesting if we had a crowd we would have had a pen against Cheltenham is a bit of a stretch. Carlisle have a squad littered with ex City connections who many on here don't rate so let's prove that with a win.

Think the optimism is definitely the latter.A quick look at the league table reinforces that.If you’re a fan and at the bottom of the khazi league optimism based on desperation for points is all we have. Why can’t it be today the revival starts.Just because they are 5th
and comfortably beat a team in midweek who toyed with us recently and we are shit. What does that prove.Football is a strange beast at times.Mark it in your diaries.Sat 5th December. Revival starts.

Problem is we don't rate 90% of our current team or squad.

However, we will win today. If not then I hope McCall walks to do the club he loves a massive favour.

Saying things like he doesn't look at the league table and give me 18 months is extremely worrying. His interviews are being painful to lesson too.

McCall is a playing legend but as a manager he is utter sh&te. Extending McCall's contract has put the club in a difficult position.

I’ve just won the league as champions in my first season on FM. I played two out and out wingers and sold DMH and Guthrie as soon as I could.

Who the hell was stupid enough to buy DMH and Guthrie?
