I think we all agree that Donaldson's legs have gone and yet the poor guys having to lead the line, sometimes twice a week. With Novak probably some way off being fit I would be tempted to start with BRE up front alongside Donaldson. I know he missed a good chance the other night but he would give us a physical presence up front and take some of the workload off Donaldino. It would also have the added bonus of keeping him away from our defence, apart from set pieces.

 

Speed of thought and anticipation is crucial up front and BRE is just not suitable to play up front, However I see your point in getting some height and presence up front and maybe AOC may help there

 

Good point, and yes we have all had a go at AOC at some point but he is 6'2" and one of our better players when it comes to footballing ability. We are just so short in numbers. That's down to Stuart plus we don't seem to be able to keep players fit. I know we have played a lot of football in a short space of time but so have other teams, is it the fitness training Apparently apparently Gareth Evans said he isn't used to doing so much work on a Friday and he has always been a fit lad, then all of a sudden he starts breaking down and struggles to come back.
I wonder if Nick Alanby is available!

 

balls over the top aren't going to work; pitches are too wet at this time of year and the ball will just skip through to the 'keeper or out of play. Samuels has been brought in to run in behind between the centre-half and full-backs. what we need is Donaldson to stay between the lines of the penalty area / goalposts and get players in and around him to support the second ball. i'd look at Samuels and Pritchard or Evans (if either are fit) to be doing that. problem is, then you can give up space in the centre of the park and we're weak enough there at the moment too.

I just dont see it happening . Its not just the lack of quality in the squad, its how fragile the players are. Concede a goal , no matter how , (long range shot , big deflection ) and they just fall apart. We deserved to go into half time leading on Tuesday.
That equalizer would have made me more determined to get a result, our players went the other way, and you just knew only one team would win the game and it was not us. There is not one player in the squad , that can drag us other the line when the going gets tough.

 

I'm liking twitter at the moment with people saying we should smash Carlisle as they have Riley, Devine and Patrick.

Well, not only would I swap league positions but I'd also swap all 3 for their replacements in French, Sutton and Guthrie/DMH.

 

Oh, and I bet their fans aren't debating which one of their rubbish centre halves should play up front simply because they're tall The footballing knowledge on this site is sometimes astounding.

 

Did not see enough of Riley to make a judgement, Patrick was bang average, but still better than DMH , would definately kept Devine, not the worlds best player or worse, but had more fight in him and would have been up for the fight, hometown club and all.
