It shows just how badly coached we were before T and S were brought in as 'interims'. I don't think i've ever seen transformation with the same group of players as i have with our current lot. From being genuinely worried about out league status i know expect us to go mout and win every game. Thats not to say we will but if we go a goal down today i'd expect us to win 2-1or 3-2. And all that comes from your last sentence, 'Do the basics properly.' It really is as simple as round pegs for round holes.

Another good three points although Barrow gave us a game, possibly our poorest performance under T&S.

 

The lack of pace in attacking areas is still a problem. If we can add a quality winger, I think we have a chance at the playoffs, I really do.

 

Quigley is a decent player andyc, another who always impressed when I have seen him in the National League - Barrow were a handful today, highly competetive and to win when we were not at our best continues the progress we are making.

AK, I don’t mean to be cruel, but I’ve absolutely no idea how he still gets the gig. He makes up words and gets common phrases and idioms jumbled up.

 

I think they deserved a draw but we defended very well second half I don’t remember Hornby having a save to make. I personally thought it was a mistake taking Sutton off. Although I think they were trying to match up with Barrow who switched to 442. We may have paid the price for leaving Clarke on to long till he picked up an injury

 

Why not? Happens from time to time, remember Barnsley a couple of years ago? Second bottom and going up.

Honestly @Fordy117 who cares right now if we will or won't, let's enjoy the turnaround of form and the wins becuase it's been really rubbish the last few years. We'll worry about the loss whenever it comes.

 

Agree with you on AOC. I'd have Canavan alongside Paudie like a shot. As well as being a really solid and experienced player in his own right, I think he'd give Finn some great footballing education. Disagree on Evans. He had a difficult start back with us through injuries and postponements, but his performance and two goals at Southend show he still has a lot of ability - and desire. Thought he was solid today. Agree re Sam Hornby.

 

Really starting to enjoy watching city again, its been a chore for the last 2 years

 

We haven't gone 5-3-0 in the league in who knows how many decades, but just last year we did go 3-5-0. But only three times since the 88/9 season have we had longer undefeated runs: 15 over the tail end of 15/6 and the start of 16/7, and 9 in each of 91/2 and 15/6. There's also been a further pair of 8s, in 98/9 and 90/10. So we don't get to enjoy such runs too often...

It is nice to look forward to matches again...and it's good to see us grind out a win too. We are going to have to be able to hang on to the one-goal leads, especially in matches that are otherwise tough as well.

Mate, this for me is a spot on analysis of AOC's time with us. Too often declines responsibility and then shouts and points fingers at the players around him. I would trust Paudie 100 per cent to put it on the line and take responsibility for his own performance and for the team. Really pleased T&S have made him captain. He should keep the armband henceforward. He never shirks or shies from what's put to him, and is increasingly vocal with the players around him. Don't trust AOC by the same measure at all. I wish him well, but I hope it's elsewhere.

Playing the race card here has nothing to do with it. Andy's got the gig not on colour but he does tick some other BBC boxes:

• He's ex City
• He lives local
• He's willing to do it
• And the most important factor for the BBC....he's being paid minimal duckets to do it.

My favourite from yesterday was when he was really confused about what half of a half is. He couldn't work it out and eventually went with "first piece of the half".

 

My own favourite was as the players came out for the second half. Prompted by Raynor who asked what Trueman and Sellars would have been saying at half time
