Sorry don’t agree about Aoc he had a tough first half but did well in the second and taking the season as a whole he has probably been our most consistent player

This division might not be high on quality, but we can't mistake that for it being an easy division.

It's not an easy division, and it's worrying for the likes of Grimsby and Southend that they're performing well below the level of their relegation rivals at the moment.

    Couldn't agree more
The next 3 games will see how far we've come, although I don't believe anything to fear
    Exeter & Scunthorpe (A)
    Followed by Salford (H)

I get your point here, and I agree for a number of reasons. This aint the Premier League folks. Football at this level is all about confidence. If as a player, you feel ok about how your manager(s) are being totally clear about their game plan for each match and your specific part within that, you know what's expected of you. My feeling about Stuart and Kenny was that they didn't give enough detail and direction to their players. The squad seem to love T&S for the amount of preparation and direction they give. Ergo, good solid pros are feeling happier about what they're being asked to do. We've currently got some good players here, but if they turned in 8 out of 10 every game, they wouldn't be playing in Lg 2. That's the reality. So to get the best from them, you need to have a plan. Eight games unbeaten, our young tyro managers seem to understand that absolutely.

Your right it was a different test a very physical one which made it difficult to play that one touch football we did earlier in the run. It will be different next week against footballing side in Exeter

We haven't gone 5-3-0 in the league in who knows how many decades, but just last year we did go 3-5-0;). But only three times since the 88/9 season have we had longer undefeated runs: 15 over the tail end of 15/6 and the start of 16/7, and 9 in each of 91/2 and 15/6. There's also been a further pair of 8s, in 98/9 and 90/10. So we don't get to enjoy such runs too often...

It is nice to look forward to matches again...and it's good to see us grind out a win too. We are going to have to be able to hang on to the one-goal leads, especially in matches that are otherwise tough as well.

Really? Above Paudie, Levi, Watt, O'Donnell before injury, Cooke of late? He's been decent no doubt, but not our most consistent in my opinion. And anyway, sure AOC will be off to pastures new in the summer. Can absolutely understand why Turnbull wanted to sign Canavan.

Thanks for the stats! They do indeed tell their own story of our recent underachieving. But... yes, isn't it a joy to actually look forward to games again, with a real sense of positivism? I am loving this. For the many posters on here who at the time slagged off the very idea of Trueman and Sellars being appointed, as some kind of cheapo cop-outs from the board, may they now want to eat some humble pie? Ryan Sparks knew exactly what a revolution they were creating with the young uns and has had the ambition to give them a chance higher up.

He had less to do in the second half because Paudie took Quigley. Either Paudie said he would or the bosses told him to.

First half AoC had that terrible header he should have let go over him and out of play. Instead the header gave them possession then they hit the post. He gave away the penalty and he gave a clear shot on goal chance because he retreated to stand just in front of Hornby instead of commanding the penalty area and being in the middle of it, clearing the ball, essentially where it fell when their lad hit it.

Ok, he rushed out to try and make a block but he should have been there. Then he's grappling and fighting but he has to do all that becuae his decision making is wrong and he lacks the leadership to take command of a situation. His natural instinct is to retreat and hope rather than go forward, take responsibility and win.

He's not changed in all his time with us. It's his personal style and attributes. Our current set up gives him more protection and therefore individual errors have not been showing up the last couple of months but today, when they hit it long and he was up against a physical forward he made the errors. He's older and more experienced but it's Paudie who always takes the responsibility of the more physical forward.
