No...Yes...Apples and oranges:imp:. Seeing as I'm logged in and BH isn't, I'll take the liberty of answering.

No: it's a way of organising the mass of raw data that consists of all the players who have ever appeared for us in a first-team match in recognised first-team competitions -- see the posts above by BantamsHeritage, BWWB, and myself for these competitions.

Yes: Vanhala is one of those players. So is Lewis Clarkson, who I believe has the shortest first-team career of any of our players, having come on as an 87th-minute sub in his one and only appearance. They *are* part of our history just as much as Ces.

Apples and oranges: heritage as in history, not as in Hall-of-Fame. Thus "heritage" takes in everyone, whereas "Hall-of-Fame" would be limited to the kinds of players you mention, our legends and almost-legends, or in my way of describing them, those players in our Hall of Fame who get a plaque on the wall (almost-legends) and those who get a statue in the middle of the room as well (legends).

    Hope this clarifies things.

Do we fans have our own heritage numbers? I appreciate this will probably only date back to the 90's only and is totally irrelevant. But me and my dad have been ST holders since the eraly 90's and our 5 digit membership numbers are one up from each other (eg 12345 & 12346).

I'm also linked with about 8 other ST holders on the online ticket system, most of which started going 2012 onwards, their numbers are about 50,000 higher than ours which might make sense over a period of 20 years?

    Just wondering really.

It seems from what I can see, if you got your ST sometime in the 90's your number will be 15,000 and under. If you got one around 2012 the you might be looking at 70,000 ish?

Having appeared to have come to some agreement with regards the eligibility of players to receive heritage numbers and by the time of this response decided that by the end of last season 1276 players had turned out for the club we now seem to have decided to drop one

The numbers allocated so far in 2019/20 should be
    1277 Donaldson
    1278 Henley
    1279 Longridge
    1280 Palmer
    1281 Richards-Everton
    1282 Vaughan
    1283 French
    1284 Hornby

Zeli Ismail and Callum Cooke have yet to receive numbers whilst Jamie Devitt remains 1120

By the way you have missed is Matthew Urwin who came on as a substitute in the Cup game at Peterborough on 23/09/2014 and should have been number 1181

Obviously none of this would matter if the club hadn’t decided to accept your list as gospel without taking steps to check the facts before making the decision to put numbers on the shirts

Sorry BWWB, but in this one instance -- Urwin -- I believe you are wrong. Please check your private messages shortly for a full explanation; I don't want to say anything publicly without Mr Bower's knowledge and permission.

Looks like Urwin came on for the last 25 mins plus injury time.

Is there a minimum number of minutes to get a number?

The match on the 23 September 2014 was at MK Dons. There is a discrepancy regarding the substitutions:
    1) https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=70009&season_id=144
    2) https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/sport/football/mk-dons/dons-2-0-bradford-dons-into-the-last-16-1-6316596
If Soccerbase is to be believed we ended up playing with two goalkeepers.

I’m afraid you’re wrong. Matt Urwin didn’t play in that game. It’s a complete anomaly. The subs for that game in several sources show Urwin coming on for an outfield player - that cannobe, and isn’t, right.

@River_City_Bantam@River_City_Bantam will clarify this. The list and the players have been ruthlessly checked throughout the summer, that’s why the club deemed them worthy of using. They didn’t just do it on the hoof.

I’m happy to chat about any further list queries but Urwin should NOT be there, and thus he was removed. The current numbers awarded to this season’s players are correct.

I was going off the BBC report, thought it was weird that he came on for an outfield player

As Mr. Bower has commented publicly on this, and as @StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam has alluded to the problem with Urwin, I'll repeat here some relevant information for all to see. I should add that I helped Mr. Bower with cross-checking the stats for the players on the BH list.

The match in question was a League Cup match against MK Dons, and the main sources have messed up the subs. All the match reports referred to are available on the web, at least they were when I checked earlier in the summer.

SkySports list 5 subs being used in their ‘teams’ page: McLean, Yeates, Urwin, Pollard, and Webb-Foster, and on their ‘live’ page they have Urwin rather than Yeates replacing Bennett. Soccerbase has Urwin replacing McBurnie. The BBC, along with the McLean and Webb-Foster subs, has Urwin replacing Bennett only to be replaced himself by Pollard, who is then replaced by Yeates! The T&A report has the McLean, Yeates, and Webb-Foster subs.

In other words, save for the T&A the sources have got the number of subs wrong, and have Urwin coming on as an outfield player. Our keeper, Williams, was neither injured nor sent off in the match.

And so, absent any solid proof that the T&A report is wrong, Urwin did not make any appearances for us, and so does not belong on the list.

Having seen the explanation from RCB I am happy to withdraw my observation with regards Urwin who I now accept didn’t appear in the match against MK Dons (not Peterborough)
He does appear as a sub for Bennett in the Sky Football Yearbook and his Wikipedia entry still says he played 1 game for City however Urwin is a goalkeeper and would only come on for Bennett if Williams had been sent off which I can find no record of

Here's the video highlights of the match, including MK Dons second goal, in the 86th minute. Spot the goalkeeper:

    Cheers!

One thing that became clear throughout the summer's cross-checking is that none of the sources is infallible. This can make things interesting when trying to resolve discrepancies, especially in the pre-WW II period. Matters improve after that, with a much broader range of sources to consult.

I have found Rothmans/Sky to be very reliable indeed, but they too slip up at times. I'd guess that here they have repeated information from a source that was itself mistaken.
