Hi BWWB. Thanks for this.
Just for some background, the BH project has taken 18 months, juggled alongside a hectic day job and done all for free. I’m very proud of it but accept there will be errors as I’m barely 30 and my history of the club going back beyond 1995 was non-existent before starting this, so please let me look into it.
What I will say is that the project was cast aside as an irrelevance by a certain former chairman who knew football, and thus it went onto the back burner. It came back into prominence very quickly in the last few weeks but I guarantee that by the time those players wear their numbers for the first time in August, they WILL be correct.
Please feel free to DM the @BantamsHeritage Twitter account with any mistakes you think you spot in future.
One thing; I accept some people may disagree with the process of alphabetical order over start/sub in terms of handing some numbers out, but that’s the way I decided to do it and it’s sticking that way! I hope it doesn’t upset too many people.

Good idea, I know some will disagree, but I like the idea of players having an individual number that identifies each player who has played for City, and it will be their number forever and their shirt. Hopefully it will instil some pride!! I will leave it to those that like to keep stats as to which number belongs to which player, that is definitely not my expertise
I hope it is sewn in gold thread, small and discreet. Maybe the collar?Jay, FrenchBantam, BoingBoing and 2 others like this. -

No: it's a way of organising the mass of raw data that consists of all the players who have ever appeared for us in a first-team match in recognised first-team competitions -- see the posts above by BantamsHeritage, BWWB, and myself for these competitions.
Yes: Vanhala is one of those players. So is Lewis Clarkson, who I believe has the shortest first-team career of any of our players, having come on as an 87th-minute sub in his one and only appearance. They *are* part of our history just as much as Ces.
Apples and oranges: heritage as in history, not as in Hall-of-Fame. Thus "heritage" takes in everyone, whereas "Hall-of-Fame" would be limited to the kinds of players you mention, our legends and almost-legends, or in my way of describing them, those players in our Hall of Fame who get a plaque on the wall (almost-legends) and those who get a statue in the middle of the room as well (legends).
Hope this clarifies things.

I know there was confusion in some sources that split Steve O'Leary into two separate players, and back in 1993 some sources had a Glegg playing in an FA Cup match, but that had to be some sort of error as that name appears nowhere else.
It seems there are quite a few of us keeping detailed records of City's history!

First, the play-offs. I include these, under their own heading -- not part of the regular league schedule, but still proper first-team matches, affecting League standings.
Next, the "Minor Cups." All of these involved first-teams, and fellow League clubs provided the opposition. I stuck the InterToto cup into this category as well, as I really didn't want to add an extra pair of columns, mostly blank, to my spreadsheets. Appearances and goals have all been totted up and I just have a "Minor Cups" category rather than individual categories for each competition.
(I include the various names these cup competitions have gone under just to be absolutely clear.)
1) Division 3 North Challenge Cup
2) Football League Group Cup:
3) Associate Members' Cup / Football League Trophy (from 1992):i) Football League Group Cup (1981/2)
ii) Football League Trophy (1982/3)
4) Full Members’ Cup:i) Associate Members' Cup (1983/4)
ii) Freight Rover Trophy (1984/5-1986/7)
iii) Sherpa Vans Trophy (1987/8-1988/9)
iv) Leyland DAF Cup (1989/90-1990-91)
v) Autoglass Trophy (1991/2-1993/4)
vi) Auto Windscreens Shield (1994/5-1999/2000)
vii) LDV Vans Trophy (2000/1-2005/6)
viii) Johnstone’s Paint Trophy (2006/7-2015/6)
ix) Checkatrade Trophy (2016/7 onwards)
i) Full Members' Cup (1985/6-1986/7)
ii) Simod Cup (1987/8-1988/9)
iii) Zenith Data Systems Cup (1989/90-1991/2)
5) the InterToto Cup
One man's opinion, at any rate, of what to include.

Okay, so after consultation with several historians and football experts, I'm in agreement with @River_City_Bantam and @BWWB. If the Football League/Checkatrade Trophy is included, all other minor/defunct cup competitions that City's first-team have played in against fellow divisional/league teams should do, too.
So with that in mind, four new Heritage Numbers have been awarded to Mel Gwinnett, Michael Guy, Andrew Burton and Martin Pattison. It also means the list has reshuffled somewhat, and some debuts adjusted, to fit those players in chronologically - but now, the Bantams Heritage files have an 'Other Cup' appearances and goals column, which will include the following competitions:
- Football League Trophy (and all its various aliases and predecessors, including the short-lived Football League Group Cup)
- The Full Members Cup
- The Division Three (North) Challenge Cup
- League
- FA Cup
- League Cup
- Football League/EFL Trophy/Associate Members Cup
- Full Members Cup
- Division Three (North) Challenge Cup)
- Intertoto Cup/European Football
