Jordan Pickford , honestly after a few seasons in the Prem…….? He’s not as good as we think imho.
    A loose cannon?

I'm happy that Lewis is more composed and more controlled in his box. Pickford was rash and is prone still. Lewis, in a small sample, is more controlled.

BTW, I'm not comparing the relatives qualities, just sticking up for our current custodian

Jus watched his post match interview on YouTube and I've got to say he's definitely becoming my favourite player, what a gem we've got here, and the best thing is he's ours and not on loan. I'm pretty sure his performances so far will have not gone unnoticed from teams higher up the food chain, I'm not sure what contract we've got him on but I hope the club have got him well covered.

He signed a 2 year contract with an option to extend by another year. This is good news, if he keeps this level of performance up then teams from higher up will certainly be sniffing about. The contract length will potentially put some off and allow us to develop him further - hopefully in combination with us progressing up the leagues as well.

If a club does come calling then he could cost a decent wedge - at least for keeper that is.

If Lewis carries on this form they will be interest in January for sure, but he seems to be really enjoying it here which is great.

Honestly, he'd be crazy to move. He's 24, played only 1 season of first team football, and is doing a great job where he is.

He should focus on getting plenty of appearances under his belt this season, and not even consider a move before January 2024 in my opinion.

That's 18 months of being number 1 here, and you could see how much his performance today meant to both him and Doyle.

I imagine he's seen the last of sitting on a bench or being in a reserve team unless he makes the wrong move.

Looks like bringing Stephen Gent in is certainly paying off.

Not sure Gent had much to do with identifying Lewis as a potential signing. Hughes knew him from his time at Southampton.

He was immense for Everton today against Liverpool, although he does have the odd rush of blood, which Andrew Davies will testify when he came out to catch a cross and knocked Davies to the ground dislocating his shoulder.

Lewis was excellent yesterday. The best performance by a City keeper since our return to league 2.
He does need to do this over a season or two. We’ve played half a dozen league games and there will be teams that pose different problems for him. Once he has had a couple of seasons with consistency he can look further up the leaguers if city haven’t progressed. Agree he looks a find.

I think Pickford being undroppable as England number one just shows how poor our choice is presently

You may be correct with regards Lewis, but looking at the players we've brought in I'd hope he had a big say in bringing those players into the club obviously with Hughes and Hodges backing.

Yes he played well today, some great saves , but always a calamity about to happen. That’s his flaw as you say.

Distribution not as good but I get your meaning absolutely.

    Fun fact
One of my staff used to sponsor Pope when he was on loan at York from Charlton. His name was Pope too ! (Zero family connection)

Your opinion of course but let's see if Pope can dislodge Pickford as England's number one, I cant see it and as for twice the keeper you're not serious are you.
