I could imagine him leaving in the summer if somebody came in with a reasonable offer and Harry was willing to play as No 2 for a season. Other than that, I imagine he'll be with us next season . Alternatively I may just be being hopeful!

John Wardle, City chairman at the time said “Originally Shrewsbury were after £400,000 for Joe. Tim and Stuart came to see me in my office and told me he was a fantastic prospect and that we should buy him,” Wardle told M.E.N. Sport.

“I told them we didn’t have any money, but I found some.

“I remember Tim said to me he’s going to be an absolute star, a future England goalkeeper and how right he has proved to be.

“We did some bartering with Shrewsbury and got him for £100,000. "

Anyway, if we go up and show intent to challenge again in league 1 then we have a chance of keeping our better players for another season

I agree with your overall comments with regards goal keepers, unfortunatly the Wells situation was ultimately out of the club's control Hoyle openly said they'd been tracking Nahki for well over 12 months and basically came down to us accepting Towns offer (as he made it clear he was going no where else) or the club could run his contract down and as we know at the latter end of Nahki's time at Valley Parade Nahki didn't fancy playing for Bradford City any more.

Funny enough, Harry is from Shrewsbury too. His grandad is former goalkeeper Ken Mulhearn.

We'd have to go back to BFG for that intent. Money talks and we don't have any.

I thought we paid £300k for schwartzer and sold him gor around £2million. It was a business deal by BFG. One of the few he win on in terms of fees.

We may see MH fight that one ? Fortunately in the event, there are quite a few youngish keepers in the Prem squads who never ever get a chance, because their parent clubs hoover up the best foreign talent, giving very few home grown keepers the chance. It’s getting the right one?

Are these clauses usually in favour of the player? I thought they were always in favour of the club as a way of protecting their asset Kev?

I’ve not heard of them been in favour of the player Kev, so I assumed it would be in the club’s favour or at least an automatic renewal based on appearances.

I imagine that if Lewis gets bought and moves up significantly, then surely some other Championship (or higher) level 2nd stringer will see the potential that biting the bullet and actually playing games has for a career.

As clear as mud, but mainly the option seems to be , but not exclusively, in favour of the club?

And without BFG this club would have spent 90% of its history in the bottom 2 divisions.
The way some of our fans slag him off and blame him for our current position is beyond laughable.

BFG was bitter sweet ,yes he gave us days we will never forget, but he also was the fool who argued with the man that took us and kept us in the premiership and then put a guy in charge that was clueless , spent money we did not have and was responsible for administration's, that cost us ownership of the stadium and over £7 million paid out in rent since.
He should have accepted that Jewell had done a great job , keeping us in the top flight , instead of telling him he was crap over lunch when that first top flight season had ended.
