He deserves all the plaudits he gets. Great character, seems to genuinely love the club and great rapport with fans.

I think he is better than Pickford was for us actually.

One criticism, could he maybe command his box more at corners. Don't think the zonal marking does him any favours though

I think he’s better than Pickford was , forget age and future prospects for a minute. Man for man whilst playing at BCFC , he’s been slightly better than Pickford was. Additionally , he’s ours , and secondly he’s bought into the club “ ethos” and as a result become a firm favourite with the supporters, young and old. I could never get that with a loanee.

Areas for improvement, dealing with crosses perhaps?

Better hope we get promoted or else he’ll 100% be gone.
Could easily see a mid to top Championship club taking him for 1-2million

Not a chance of that kind of fee. Our chairman would snap anyone's hands off for something approaching 3 or 4 hundred thousand.

Would be stupid to let him go for such a small fee. Good goalkeepers are hard to come by, especially English keepers.
How much would Pickford cost if/when Everton are relegated.

Rupp is a successful businessman. He will not let him go for less than million, maybe even more, in my opinion

Even if we go up I still think he’ll leave.
Best case scenario we’d hang on to him until January to see how we are doing and assess any chance of a double promotion.
Exactly like what happened with Wells.

Are there any examples of any keeper from league two going for over a million pounds?

I'm not sure but I'd hazard a guess that there won't be. The valuation you're putting on Lewis is crazy and recent history will tell you that we're getting no where near.

Look at the fee we got for Wells when everyone was quoting double and even treble what he actually went for? And that's even with the "striker premium" built in, not a chance you'd get a similar fee for a keeper.

Most of the keepers are journeymen in this league which makes assessing his value very hard. Most League 2 keepers are free transfers aren’t they?

we only got him, IMO, because of Hughes and their past connection, so similar types wouldn’t normally drop this far down the divisions.

all we know, though, is that if we tie him down for longer, we have a stronger bargaining position.

Schwarzer went for about 300-400k didn’t he? But that was 15-20 years ago (inflation now etc) and we were at a higher level than L2. Were we in Chanpionship under Kammy? Memory’s a bit hazy.

huddersfield got Wells on the cheap, it has to be said. We were poor negotiators then - Peterborough would have got £2.5-£5m for Wells, not £1.5 and add ons or whatever we got. We just accepted he wanted to go, board saw some cash and took it because we weren’t used to having players with any value!

You see some very average keepers in the lower leagues, this lad stands out like a sore thumb. Has the skillset to play at a higher level and having seen some of the keepers in the championship, he could more than hold down a place there. If i was a club from that level and i felt my keepers weren't at the level required i would definitely be looking at him. How much that would be dependant on how desperate a club is for his services.

There have been some average keepers that had good careers at bigger and better clubs than us after leaving us - Johnny Mac a most obvious example. Yet everybody raves about Lewis, and that’s the biggest compliment we can give him when pondering how far he can go.

with only 72 keepers in the FL pyramid it is hard to think of relevant examples to value him. In terms of young keepers with potential moving within the UK, Kirkland and Butland spring to mind, but they were moving from higher up, and a long time ago!

harry is a rare gem in the rough.

Harry's contract ends in June 2024 at which point he becomes a free agent. I doubt very much that a Championship team would be risking £1mill+ in Jan 24 on a player who will become a free agent a few months later. I'm with you on this about him leaving ...unless he would be willing to sign a contract extension this summer!

I'd say the smart money goes on him playing his contract out. If we possibly go up i can see him maybe signing a new contract but buying clubs love a player coming out of contract.

Hart went for £600,000 initially but admittedly Shrewsbury will have collected plenty of add ons you'd assume.

County paid a decent fee for Schmeical but he was at a PL club so a different scenario to the list league club selling. He was also released on a free once it emerged the club were using monopoly money rather than the real stuff.

There's no specific mention on the club's site about an option to extend and no mention of one on WOAP who are usually on the ball with these contractual issues. From memory, it was originally described as a two year contract 'initially' to June 24 whatever that infers!
