Harry Lewis to Barnsley?

Which bit of 'wait and see' is over egging anything?

Did you read my post, or presume I'd written that Barnsley are screwed?

 

It won’t be anywhere near 500-700k imo.
More likely the 200-250 mark with add ons based on promotion etc and a decent sell on %

The only thing 'over-egged' is this rumour according to the Barnsley Chronicle.



No wonder we're saying "he's still part of our plans".

Doesn't sound like a deal is anywhere near done, and those sources are spouting bab.

Perhaps they'll swoop next Summer when he's out of contract/down to 1 year depending on what we do with his extension option.

You CANNOT have it both ways , yet your rant, implies they will be at fault if they let him go without knowing a jot about his contract. How do you know he doesn’t have specific transfer clauses and trigger points built in? You don’t!

If that’s the case,I wouldn’t bother with the offer plus the add ons are no use to us in the here and now.

Agreed, that would seem a lot for a League One club to pay.

 

Beat my to it Kev, if you want a negative spin on anything Bradford City read his guys posts, I don't know why he bothers getting a season ticket and putting himself through hell season on season, with regards Harry (I have to thank this club for giving me a chance) Lewis I'm glad I didn't fall for the "up the f*****g chickens", but if we get a good fee then no one is irreplaceable a shame really as both him and Andy Cook were a massive part of getting us to a play off semi final.

 

Good player gets interest shocker, anyway let’s see if he goes as Lewis proved last season there are plenty of quality keepers out there either by free agent or loan. Key is when a good player goes how they are replaced. If we are to become a successful club then get used to losing players higher up. Brentford made a Premier League club off doing it.

Only one man to blame for Lewis even being here in the first place, let alone us making the play offs.

That would be Mark Hughes, mate.

 

He was the one player I thought we would be in real risk of losing in the summer because outside the club it was said he was probably the best goalkeeper in the League bar the Orient guy who went to Burnley and he is clearly a talented goalkeeper with a great attitude. If he goes I hope we get a good fee and wish him well, he deserves a decent move up the leagues although I think he can do a bit better than Barnsley.

 

£250-£300k probably rising to around £500k with promotion and other clauses with a decent sell % I’d expect

It's League Two, it's generally the same standard most years.

I don't believe it was particularly weak last season.

We may have had Harry Lewis and Andy Cook, Carlisle for example had Owen Moxon and Tomas Holy (who produced near-identical stats to Lewis).

We both had the players to go up, and so did Stockport.

That's football.

Next season there will be two or three teams good enough to go up that don't. Happens every year.

I don't see anything remotely unusual about last season, or the one coming. If we've improved, which I certainly believe we have so far, then we'll be up there pushing for autos.

Being defensive doesn't stop you going up. Ask Leyton Orient.

 

Salford told Barnsley where to go when they bid for Luke Bolton this week, I think we should do the same.

Let's say it's 300K, Lewis is the type of player that will give us a good chance if promotion, where the money is better anyway. If you sell him now, the chances of bringing in a promotion quality keeper are far lower, and denting our chances. Another season at this level is not worth 300K for me. Rather roll the dice with Lewis, than get a few hundred grand and an untested prem youth loan.

Unless Lewis kicks up a fuss, I wouldn't entertain it.
