This the same Harry Lewis that was awarded the 2022/23 community award from the Bradford City community foundation and generally regarded as one of the nicest lads to ever grace our squad? The very same player that has bought into the club ethos like no other? I smell bullshit

 

Fear not Dave. The Barnsley paper reporting at 10.30 ish saying no deal and they are looking elsewhere for a keeper.

 

I asked Harry directly if there'd been an altercation with a fan at the end of the game. He said yes.
I then asked him if this was specifically because of the Barnsley rumour. He said yes.
He was happy to talk to me and also pose for a picture. I got no Prima Donna vibes from him. Just friendly, open and honest.

 

Funny, i don't remember him making many howlers last season. Play off game one springs to mind and picking the ball up outside the area. The amount of top class saves on the other hand.....

 

it's not just losing Harry. We have to consider all the knock on effects as well. For a start I'll have to get a new mug for my coffee at work

 

There shouldn't have been any sort of confrontation, where does the club stand with regards fans approaching players in a hostile manner having to wait until its an actual physical confrontation rather than a verbal confrontation, they have reacted on a rumour, but even if it was the case lewis was leaving they have no right to have a go at Lewis and should face any punishment the club decide to act upon.

 

Well, looks like @B.C.A.F.C. was right about Lewis's attitude towards us in Spain.

I mean, turning up to a friendly he's not involved in, interacting with fans, taking over the clubs official Twitter account and having a laugh with our social media followers..

Clearly his heart isn't in it anymore and he doesn't want to be here

 

I spoke directly to Harry yesterday (the team were on my flight home). He did try to down play what happened but did say another player was so incenessed by the 'fan' that said player wanted to deck the idiot.
Regardless of the situation surrounding Harry he should not be subject to the kind of abuse he got. As he pointed out, he hasn't engineered a move or anything. Barnsley have allegedly expressed an interest based on his performances last season.
What I will say - speaking to him - he is a genuinely nice guy who is very approachable.

I think footballers are entitled to drink in moderation, particularly off season. You can manage a degree of alcohol in your diet and still perform at an elite level personally. What’s problematic is when it’s done to excess, and it’s usually a symptom of something else. I’ve had times in my life where I’ve drunk too much to hide from other personal issues, and I think it’s hugely to his credit that he’s talked openly about it.

 

Eh? Really? I can barely remember any howlers whereas I remember him making match winning saves at least every other match.

He's our most important player in the last 10 years. With an average keeper instead of him last season we'd have been at least 15 points worse off.

 

As I posted my comment wasn't about Harry (although I have been critical of his start to the season so far) his first comment is about negativity within and outside the club with regards the new system, we hadn't quite figured it out yet, baring in mind this was before the Morecambe debacle, players shouldn't be going into a new season trying to figuring the system out, I repeat why have we discarded the system that had our defence as the 3rd best in the league to take a gamble on this way of playing.
Maybe the fans don't understand it, well he's bang on with that comment, before we had 4 at the back now we have 5, and so far this season we've not look capable of keeping a clean sheet, where as he kept 19 clean sheets I believe he said last season, nearly 50% of games where the opposition did not score ?.
I dont think I'll ever lose the faith my friend after 65 or so years but he said more or less what many fans have commented on Hughes not merely changing the formation but up till now the players are either not up to playing it or incapable of playing it, I'm sure some will say its early days and they need to grow into the way of playing but I for one don't want to be playing catch up.
Obviously early days with regards other clubs and promotion but Gillingham were mentioned as possible front runners along with the likes of those who were there or there abouts last season, and the teams promoted from the National League but I'll wager not one of those teams who either got promoted or as I say were in the promotion shake up at the end of last season have trashed how they played last season to take IMO a massive risk of playing a new system.
Just to add with regards the Morecambe game we had 64% of possession I read somewhere Morecambe were happy for us to have the ball because they didn't think the areas where we had possession it would cause them any problems and watching the game they were correct.

 

We stick with him, he'll get his mojo back with more game time. He knows he's had a poor start to the season, upto fans to get behind the lad. I've seen people use the analogy 'well I get a bollocking if I make a mistake at work' difference is you have got 15,000 folk telling you you've done it. Ain't all fluffy clouds and flowers being a footballer

 

The club will know who it is. Ban him for a couple of years. Strong action may deter these morons.

We can see that you are trying to blame Lewis for something without a full explanation or evidence.

It appears you are waiting the outcome from the club except on here banging on about your 110% it did happen You wouldn’t be trying to galvanise a fan protest if the son and father receive a lifetime ban are you?

The club has a no tolerance of unacceptable behaviour towards the players and other peaceful fans.

A piece of advice to pass onto parents. Never allow children onto the playing area, and always escort children to meet players

This is an excellent point and just reinforces how stupid what we are doing is. We were 7 points off automatic promotion last season. All we needed was a few tweaks here and there but yet here we are, trying to reinvent the wheel.

 

I recon if they have offered anything over £250k we would let him go, and with that mindset we will never get out if this league.

 

That’s the thing, too many people can brush off not getting promotion as just a blip and happy because getting to the playoffs was progress.
But failure to go up last season was a catastrophic failure and now we are seeing the implications of that where we lose our best players and can’t keep hold of the better loan players.
We need to stop this acceptance of mediocracy and as fans should be holding the owners / CEO and manager to account for why we still languish in the khaki league.
How is it that other ‘bigger’ clubs who’ve been in league 2 have only been there for 1-2 seasons?
If we lose Harry then that’s a real shame but every penny of the transfer fee should be re-invested into the squad to guarantee automatic promotion this time. Playoffs are not good enough.
