That Sheff Utd side were a cut above anything I've seen at League 1 level. Wilder is a phenomenal coach who I expect to land a bigger job, soon.

 

Reeves in the holding role worked for McCall when he first signed as he had the opportunity to show off his passing ability from deep. I understand he's not a big tackler but as long as the options in front of him have good movement and provide some options there's no reason why it shouldn't work again. Let's face it the movement can't get any worse as it was non existent under GB.

 

To be fair he did hold Millwall apart from an offside goal. They created very little and we had chances to win that game.
I don’t mind our manager thinking about the big sides and ones who are playing well. It’s when they are worrying and defending against the worst sides in the league it’s a problem

 

I think there was talk of Wilder coming to City as manager at one time, not sure if it was during his Halifax days or when he went to Oxford, the latter I think ?.

 

Might not need to if he gets them into Europe and gets the finances to build on what he's already done. What a job he's done. Can't see that being eclipsed for some time.

 

There is still a good player in Jake hopefully Stuart can get him being more positive.

 

I dont think its necessarily him being more positive, I think it's the team around him that need to give him the options. When you see him pick the ball up more often than not the only pass that's on is backwards.

 

Reeves doesn't start for me.

I would go with Cooke and Devitt or Akpan and Devitt.

It's clear Reeves can't play In a 2 central midfield. If we play 3 then maybe.

He makes the easy pass too offen and it's always side way or backwards. Doesn't carry the ball.

 

Think for Reeves it’s been a lack of options to pass to further forward. When he first came in under McCall he would always look to go forward. He can certainly get back to that

 

I think we saw that in his first couple of games back. Then Gary 'Bowyered' him and he's not looked the same since.

 

The McCall factor has hit my daughter already. She has barely been bothered to attend many games this season, due to being bored rigid at the matches she has attended. She is already looking forward to Saturday now Stuart is back.

 

He makes us more negative. Like I say he doesn't run with the ball players like Cooke and Devitt can do that.

Reeves is a DM in a 3 for me.

Let's hope the fans who've stayed away get back on board and we start as we mean to go on, ye why not make it a carnival atmosphere scarves, flags for McCalls return those players who have only been here under past managers will realise just who they are performing for if they perform and get the fans back on board, nothing better than a rocking Valley Parade.

 

I missed the Cheltenham and Oldham games due to boycott and I wasn't planning to go back until GB left. I will be there Saturday looking forward to it should be a cracking atmosphere. Let's hope the game matches the crowds effort.

We could do with a proper defensive midfielder behind Devitt and Cooke but we just don't have one so maybe Reeves might be the best option for now.

 

I think if we can keep Ismail fit, Stuart will work wonders with him like he did Marshall. Both quick, direct runners, two footed and got good delivery which fits in perfectly with what we know McCall likes.

 

That's what I would go with. We now have an abundance of strikers now if that's the way forward. Is Novak mobile enough to lead the line alone in that formation? He wasn't that mobile at his peak was he? 5 goal threats would be a nice change.

 

Agree. This was a classic example of both teams playing football to win, no quarter given non expected.

 

It feels like the start of the season for me. Plus I actually was umming and arring about going, now I will be there.
