Yes, that feeling has become very clear over the past decade or two, hasn't it. Only people of a certain type are both racist, and never the victims of racism themselves! Of all the counter-arguments I could come up with, here's a few:

1) from a Canadian context, one should look at how Indians, both on reservations and off, consider non-Indians, and especially how Indian women who married a non-Indian were treated by their reservations as compared to Indian men who married non-Indians.

2) from back home, my Mum and Aunt remember the various African nurses they trained and worked with, including a pair who really looked down their noses at Caribbean nurses: "They're no good...they're not properly black anymore...their blood has been diluted!"

3) Consider (South-East) Asian history, and how the various groups there (Vietnamese / Laotians / Chinese / Thais / etc.) view each other.

I suppose it's fair to say we, whoever the 'we' happens to be, have an inbuilt tendency to be more comfortable with our own kind of people, however you want to define 'kind,' and to have therefore a feeling of being 'better' than all others. And I suppose it is also fair to say that often we do not, and have not, kept such feelings within reasonable bounds.

Facts starting to emerge now about the victim of the police murder, not a very nice person with the amount of violent convictions he's had down the years , including robbing a pregnant women at gunpoint . This in no way justifys is murder , but in my opinion sheds light on the problems faced in the USA .

 

Until the underlying social, economic and cultural factors are examined without constraint or prejudice, nothing will be resolved. In fact, the increasingly left wing, woke approach to tackling racial issues will lead to a very bad place for many people, in my opinion.

 

Like i mentioned this is the problem in the USA , i have said the murder was shocking and unjustified , but a white Police officer was shot dead yesterday no outrage . I would never want to live in America , the land of the free etc etc . The fact millions around the world jumping on this as another example of racism are wrong . I was on FB yesterday , Bradford City used a blank page as a message of support to the "Black lives matter " i said all lives matter , i recieved tons of abuse and threats , called a racist etc , i also posted that a child in Africa dies every minute through lack of food - clean water - basic hygene , which is why i donate monthly to Oxfam and save the Children , but i'm still a racist because i questioned the need by our club to have a blank screen . 99% of the " outrage " is symbolism , a need to feel shock and upset at an event that i can't influence . There were 3 other Police officers at the scene who could have stopped the white officer murdering Floyd , 1 a mexican 1 from Somalia 1 was Asian but nothing ( apart from being sacked ) is said . I do feel sorry for the way he died , but this happens every hour everyday in the USA.

 

Just reading an article that George Floyd was trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill and the store where he was trying to pass it called the police, apparently Floyd was still in the area when the cops came and we know the rest, the shop owner is now worried for his shop and his employees as they have had threats with regards calling the police.

 

Add to that the shooting of Yassar Yaqub by police on the m62. He was such a good lad and a family man.

 

Madness isn’t it. But logic, common sense and reason don’t really feature in the narrative. The BLM movement isn’t principally about the safety and well-being of the black community. If it were, it would have a different focus, agenda and approach.

 

Dont forget if / when the 2nd wave comes its the Governments fault .

 

The very faces of those people screaming to hold Dominic Cummings to account are the sort that will either be at Hyde Park or ones encouraging this sort of feckwittery. Kinda sums it all up really.

 

Police getting attacked , been accused of being Racist , christ these people are thick and deluded .

 

It kicked off a bit at the protest earlier. Throwing stuff at police and then expecting them to just stand and take it. Pathetic

 

If thousands of Liverpool fans congregated outside Anfield's locked gates in the coming weeks, they would be roundly condemned and dispersed. So how come crowds are allowed to congregate in London with no concern for social distancing

 

Now knowing what i know about where the virus spreads then that protest is the perfect breeding ground. But if it isnt Dominic Cummings then it not on their agenda.

 

Where is Corbyn? Not like him to miss a protest
