I wouldn’t be so sure. This is a list of the ‘beliefs’ of the official BLM movement. It’s a much, much broader mission than combating racism.

I’d say that the second of those paragraphs, and the high rate of single motherhood in the black community is a fundamental part of the levels of poverty and crime within the same communities. But rather than address it, it would seem that BLM want to extend it.

 

Is that 2nd paragraph not more about 'it takes a village to raise a child' line of attitude? That's how I read it.

That’s not how I read it. I read it as an abdication of parental responsibility, a dismissal of traditional family structures.

Karl Henry calling out BLMUK for exactly what is on Twitter, a political organisation which truly is self serving.

 

I'm seeing more and more people citing the same. And a fair number of Black people supporting that view - quite rightly, as I think the whole movement will create nothing but more division and tension.

 

Could help if a few premiership footballers ,especially black, stood up and recognised the hypocrisy of it all...

 

They missed a real trick and you've put my thoughts on here already but if they had a clear focus with genuine debate that was focused on engaging the right people to make a change then they could have made some sort of difference.

They lost me at taking statues down, I still don't understand the logic behind it and what difference they felt it would make with helping people of a BAME background today. Then you have the "Black Pound Day", take whatever angle you want but it's racist.

I don't know what the goal for that organisation is.

 

The main Problem will be the media , they've raised their standard citing racism is rife in the UK . A lot are going to be left with egg on their faces , i've said from the start its hypocrisy , no doubt racism is about but not as bad as the Media make out .

And now Matt Le Tissier speaks out, a small breakthrough but a breakthrough none the less.......

 

The PL have issued a statement saying they do not support any "political organisation" . They added they are aware of various groups that have infiltrated and hijacked the original campaign . BLM UK have stated they want to defund the Police , they do not in any way want to endorse the violence or illegal activities of what as now become a left wing political movement . The PL will continue to strive to remove racism in any form . Matt Le Tissier a SKY pundit he was told he had to wear a BLM badge by his bosses before appearing on TV .

Can’t see footballers wearing BLM for much longer, whilst I agree with the slogan I can’t agree with an organisation that wants to defund the police in this country. Having seen what 10 years of austerity has done to it, I want more funding not less, it’s an appalling sentiment imo.

Football already has the kick it out campaign, I hope they go back to promoting that instead.

 

I agree. I think the broader agenda of BLM is now being talked about more openly. It's a corrosive movement. I have no time for it and the sooner that a genuine, specific, objective Anti-Racism narrative can be resumed the better.

 

I just hope now that this sorry affair does not disrupt dressing rooms throughout the land, supporters saw through it straight away but it could take players a little longer...
