When football does return I honestly can't see either the government or the football clubs putting an age limit of fans attending, they would certainly be a challenge in the courts.

Of course racism exists. in this country it is repressed in the states it stands out. You can enforce laws but you can’t change people’s thinking.

Thank you. It's a crucial discussion and there are a range of opinions which should be heard. I strongly believe though, that when it comes to a complex discussion like this it needs to be driven by fact rather than labels and hyperbole.

 

I agree, nice to read a balanced viewpoint rather than the usual rhetoric we seem to be bombarded with.

 

Balance is missing from the debate across the media, mainstream and social. It's usually the case tbf.

It’s descended into downright lawlessness, the authorities need to act.

 

The authorities are impotent on everything other than traffic offences........

 

Where were the police ? The police must have had some intelligence the statue would be under threat.

This will spread if those who are in charge don’t get tough.

 

Very rarely do I agree with @Fordy117 about any thing but deny racism isn’t rife is burying your head in the sand.
Yes it is less overt in this country than the states and it’s not only colour look at the Labour Party and anti semitism.
When we get talking to people round here and they ask where we come from we get the usual stuff which I won’t repeat on here.
A lot of it comes from my age group who were brought up when it was more open with characters like Alf Garnett and shows like the Black and white minstrels.
I am disgusted by the violence in the last few days by a few but I am sympathetic to anybody subjected to this

 

If this country is Racist as people are saying , could you please point out a more liberal and open country than the UK . Could you please show me any country in the world that gives the people of any race creed and colour to arrive on their borders and within 3 generations they are doing so well , can you name me any country in the world that embraces the culture and religion of the world with little or no problem . Can you name me any country in the world that as a more diverse political system ?. We are the soft touch of the world .

 

Racism is rife alright, Me and my family have had numerous racist attacks/abuse over the years and we are white.
