You do realise Vaughan has a 1 in 3 ratio in the league don’t you? Hard to take you serious when you contradict yourself like that.

433 can be a very good formation. I don't have a problem with it. Our biggest 'problem' is lack of effective playing style within that system. There are many games where we look disjointed and focused on going aimlessly long.

I also don't think we should get too hung up on 433. It looked more effective when we first came to use it, as we were moving from a midfield 2 of Palmer and Devine/Anderson, which couldn't get us a kick of the ball, to getting both Cooke and Pritchard in there. All of a sudden we did find a way of getting some possession.

But when fully fit, a midfield 2 of Reeves and Cooke would boss most games at this level and give us a chance to get 2 strikers on the pitch. Same point though - if the instruction is just to go long and have Vaughan wrestle with every defender he sees, it won't produce many goals either.

Vaughan has 5 goals this season. Less than Josh Wright,

    He has no assets.

Doyle has 16 goals. He's miles behind.

Point is Vaughan just be up there with in terms of goals and assets but he's not.

It's the why Bowyer has Vaughan playing that's the issue. Instead of Vaughan concentrating in getting in the box it's like he's doing wrestling or something.

You are definitely right about the end product from Zeli and Connolly. For instance, we had a rare chance in the 2nd half last night, Connolly broke through into the box and most players would have buried the chance. Unfortunately, he instead decided to lay it off to his right for the cross, which resulted in nothing. I am guessing Connolly doesn't have confidence in his own shot, as they are very tame as we have previously seen. And as for Zeli, he has shown glimpses of his capabilities but unfortunately doesn't look consistent, hence him being a L2 player. I recall a lot of Walsall fans saying he was hit & miss and that is obviously the case. I can only really see him being an impact sub for us

No not the point now you’ve been found out you’re changing the point. The point is when you play 1 up top the goals need to be shared out. I algae you an extreme example in Liverpool to price the point and you came back saying Firmino gets one in 3, I’m pointing out so does Vaughan! Oh and btw, Firmino has scored 3 in 12 this season which is 1 in 4.

He missed a 1 on 1 in the first tie as well, a more clinical player and we’d be in the second round now regardless. My point is though you can take a horse to water but can’t make it drink. We are creating opportunities, the players need the blame when they don’t take them.

Vaughan takes pens. Point is Vaughan needs do more and is meant to be our main man.

Look you see Vaughan play and for me he needs to be in the box more.

Can't have Reeves at this moment but Cooke and Devitt would be the way forward.

    Devitt says he back soon.

Two games don't really tell the full story, particularly in an uninspiring cup tie, but I respect your opinion.

Well I don’t disagree there, but that’s a different point imo. Vaughan’s under achieved so far, but there’s always room for improvement. Providing the team isn’t suffering it’s not the end of the world at the moment. Another example is Patrick Bamford at Leeds, another lone striker who’s not exactly firing them in. But Leeds continue to do well.

In the cold light of day we more than matched a team from the league above. We lost to literally thier only shot on target all night.
The double sub was a definite mistake when we should have gone at them and had a good go.
Otherwise both teams basically cancelled each other out. You can see why they win 1-0 a lot (according to radio l666ds that is).

His goal at Grimsby should be the aim. Rain crosses in the box, big powerful striker attacking the ball. He's a very instinctive player his strengths aren't with his back to goal. Think because of his frame the temptation to use him as a target man is there for the coaching staff. I don't want to see him involved in the build up if I'm honest.

Most Leeds fans would rather Eddie Nketiah start over Bamford though.

You need a forward wanting to get into the box and score.

Yet the manager who’s had so much success in his career, and totally changed a mid table side into the best footballing team in the championship thinks Bamford obviously adds more to the team over all. Not sure they’ll complain if they continue to threaten top spot, and they’d be stupid to if they did imo.

There was little between the teams, defensively we’ve been pretty sound all season and last night was no different. Teams beating us are usually doing so with a rare effort on goal, annoying but a stat i would expect to change in our favour if we keep defending as we have been doing.
Midfield is still our achilles heel although there are mitigating circumstances round that, injuries being the main factor. You van throw Donaldson into that as well, not a prolific scorer but an important figure if playing a lone striker. Until we get a clear bill of health then we aren’t going to be at our best, when Bowyer has a midfield with the likes of Palmer, Devitt and Reeves to choose to complement Cooke and Pritchard then our options to change from the bench look far better.
That said Bowyer has to help himself to some extent as last night showed. Making what can only be described as negative substitutions in an important game finance wise is always going to get the fans back up. I admit his options are somewhat limited with injuries and players who quite clearly aren’t good enough but FFS go for it a bit more when a game is clearly there to be won.

With Bamford in your side he will alway cause the opposition problems, if its only that you stick two men on him in the final third.

It's because like us they're making hard work of games and their luck might run out soon.

When you count on your forward to score a load of goals but he's busy in midfield it's not great and before you talk about Firmino again. Liverpool can't on Salah to score the goals and he hardly defends.

As a team we're doing OK but Swindon have their forwards(both loans) on 16 & 8 for the season. We need Doyle back but more importantly Bowyer needs to be stop being negative.

Salah has 6 goals this season, not many more so it’s fair to say Liverpool share goals around then?

We outclassed Swindon when we played them, I’m happy to take Doyle back and hopefully their threat to us would end as they’re over reliant on him. Without his goals they’d be mid table, only takes an injury or is to recall him and they’re in trouble. I can’t say anyone individual would be such a miss for us, obviously when you lose 3 or 4 players it makes a big difference. But it’s a team game and is about more than 1 player, as Bradford and Leeds are proving I’ll leave Liverpool out if you want due their superiority. But I can easily bring Preston into it, another team who play 1 up top.
