The question was when do we judge Gary Bowyer. The answer should be unless results are catastrophic at the end of the season and how successful we have been

    Read @trevor@trevor post above.

Maybe, just maybe Bowyer isn't a good manager now.

A strange one for sure @Disillusioned of Bingley@Disillusioned of Bingley when ever I've been down this season watching training Drury has been very much involved with the training Bowyer at times has been stood on the sidelines watching and making the odd suggestion.
I would think if Bowyer did want McPhillips as his assistant now might be a good time to approach Stefan.
But watching from the sidelines Bowyer looks more than happy to let Drury take the majority of training.

Maybe just maybe you are the biggest WUM on this forum. I think these threads just sow discontent amongst fans. Do you support city or just support them when they win i dont get it? Its game 1 ffs, yes we are all irritated but it was obvious the players looked nervy. Scannell came on and simply did not look for the ball something was wrong with him yesterday. It might be small things like this that forced the formation choice.

    That's in training.

Maybe, Bowyer wants self control and doesn't want to be told.

Clearly need telling yesterday to make some bloody subs.

    Thanks.

However, this is no WUM. It's a discussion and to be fair no one has said sack him yet but as fans we have every right to question him as he's been utter poor at achieving results.

We all hope things change and quickly.

Like the rest of us you have no idea what goes on in training. You also do not know the substance of the relationship between GB and Drury. Why make things up to suit your own personal theory? Lots of ppl could suggest all manner of things but it is still the managers decision. I don’t have a problem with your view, you are a balls deep kind of guy, so used to you posting stuff that gets ppl going.

Maybe we need to hold the negative stuff for now. No doubt GB has players lined up and may well change his strategy.

Of course it's at/in training, where do you think the likes of formations and the selection of players and all things football are disgust and take place, all I'm saying is I was genuinely surprised on how much Bowyer let's Drury get involved, that suggest to me he has faith in what Drury offers.

I dont think Bowyer has had a choice regarding his assistant for this season. If Bowyer was honest, I am pretty sure he would like his own man alongside him, possibly McPhillips again. That was a successful partnership, and if Bowyer wants to reunite with him, he should be allowed to.

Drury failed at Avenue, and he has been a constant part of failure under different managers since he has been involved in the first team here

With the season underway but the transfer window still open, who knows what it going on behind the scenes and whether there are potential moves in the offing that could be leaving certain players feeling unsettled. I'm not saying that is the case with Scannell but like you say, something was not quite right with him yesterday and it was odd he only played a bit part.

I'm not sure it's as simple as your last paragraph, I would think if that was the case Bowyer would not be allowing Drury to have as much input into training ETC if he does not trust what Drury's doing.
We are obviously not privy to what has been said between Bowyer and the club apart from Bowyer saying we work within the budget, and maybe working within the budget means Bowyer had the choice of spending money on his assistant or he preferred to spent it on players.

Another year, same old Fordy. Change the record, you’re getting boring.

It’s clear to you that we now have a solid defence? Not saying that statement isn’t true, but having a shut out and playing well defensively against Cambridge isn’t clear enough evidence for me

Really don't understand why this thread has surfaced. Gary has always said he will need 3 transfer windows to get his team(hopefully number 3 can be back in L1) and we desperately need stability. Cambridge came with a plan and worked hard to stop us. Bit like Port Vale did 3 years ago first game. Didn't we lose to an offside goal at Wembley that year?

It took Scannell a while to get into it because he was getting no service until the last few minutes when he started to look dangerous

Looked miles better than last year so, one game or not, progress needs acknowledging.

Do you know they didn’t ‘support their team’ when it mattered though?
Yeah, they may be negative on here, but that’s not to suggest they weren’t fully the team yesterday

But let’s be honest, they never really threatened us. I personally thought we were still weak down our left. Yes, we looked solid enough everywhere else, but as I said, they never really put us under any real pressure.

I’m going to save the platitudes under I see them attacked
