Well the crisis is here. Whatever you may think of the situation, in reality filling stations are running short and in some cases have run out of fuel. I was turned away from a Tesco as they had no diesel left.
It is a 500 mile round trip to Crawley. For some vehicles that is virtually a full tank of fuel. It may well be difficult to fill up.
Even if you can get there and back, then it will mean you will probably have to fill up on your return. With your everyday life, family, work to think of, are you still going by car?
Will you buy tickets for Newport away?
    Lots to consider!

Crisis?, what crisis. There is no fuel shortage. The driver shortage has whipped up the media to cause the panic buying we saw yesterday and probably over the weekend.

It will be back to normal at the pumps within days.

Another great example of how social media can whip up the masses into a frenzy. @Bigrod@Bigrod, maybe you should rethink the wording you have used in your post.

Wouldn’t mind so much if people were just filling cars up but people had Jerry cans out filling them up.

It's not selfish, it's self preservation. We're hard wired to do it just as squirrels store food for the winter. I need my car for work. Too far to walk and no public transport. I've got a third of a tank of fuel. That will probably do me to the end of the week but what then? What if the pumps are dry by then? This is what's going through people's minds.

Filling up jerry cans is a different ball game, that's into the realms of selfish I'd agree.

Newport by train Rod. I’m away at the moment so don’t have the times but planning Cross Country from Wakey, change at Birmingham. The ground is a 10-15 minute walk. I do know the return is around 6.00 change Birmingham and back at Wakey in decent time.

Just to reassure anyone travelling today, that as long as you have deep pockets the motorway service stations appear to have plenty of fuel (I drove up from London last night).

Well I've just got back from a nightmare of a night.

I went out at midnight, queued for 9 hours at the petrol station.

It was only when I got to the front of the queue, I remembered I drive an electric car.

Petrol stations should not allow additional supplies other than in the vehicle.

There is no fuel shortage. People queuing into the road for over an hour isn't normal behaviour, it's idiots being manipulated by the media.

When demand is artificially increased by 400% then what is in place to deal with a sane world will be put into trouble.

The extent to which human behaviour can be manipulated by the media is mind boggling.

We're just not that evolved as a species, are we?
