I believe that other clubs are sniffing around. As usual we will left with the dregs.

Some times you just 'gotta give'. IF these 'rogue players' are demanding MORE - Let 'em suffer! BUT, if the Agents are pressing, then let them suffer MORE.

 

Plus they are back in the game, back in the shop window and with the potential of earning a contract with us or someone else. And they'd be match fit.

 

I'm not sure I would encourage clients to accept low offers. The second they do that, their value is lowered longer term. It's not as simple as putting yourself in the shop window and getting a much better offer because you used to earn that much.

But its a balancing act.

The trouble is, other clubs will also need players during the window. They may decide to sit tight until the window opens to get the best opportunity for themselves.

If we’d looked for players just after the summer window closed, we’d have our pick. This close to window means the players are in the driving seat.

 

Players may also be mindful of injury. Championship players will be millionaires. An extra 6 weeks without a salary won't be a big issue for most.

 

Absolutely. I don't think they'll be queuing up on a Thursday morning for their giro. These guys know they are decent players, they are just sitting tight waiting for the right offer. I'd do the same if money wasn't an issue. Always a chance that if they drop down a league, some Twit is gonna try and kick lumps out of them, and then that's their career over. BUT - these are the Bents and the Gabi Agbon players I'm talking about. We're not in for them. It's understandable we can't sign Championship players, but players from Scotland and players not getting a look in at their league clubs, that I can't understand.

 

Especially in the latter part of November - When the season is 1/3 rd over ?

It's six weeks until the transfer window opens, and comings and goings will make spaces at clubs and funds available - if we offered Caddis a six week contract, he could consider taking it, but not if it's way under what he and his agent feel he's valued at. And not when there are clubs rumoured to be circling.

 

Yes we are up against it - the consequence of an owner who "knows best" let's face it players recruitment under the Mr Rahic has been poor influenced by driving the the first team budget down from day one and also reducing it further to fund the development aspect. The big mistake for me was that the owners should have seen that they needed more than the outlay / investment to buy the club to take us to the next level. Stuart's success with what remained of PPs squad and additions I feel made Mr Rahic over confident in to thinking player recruitment and assembling squads was easier than it actually is.

 

I whined like a baby when we let McArdle go, particularly when it turned out we baulked at his wages and three year contract length.

It just felt like a sign of things to come. No loyalty to players who had actually done something and earned respect at the club, followed swiftly by dishing out long term deals to anyone who'd join for a fiver and a pack of M&M's.

It might be just my imagination, or a hideously bad dream, but isn't Omari Patrick contracted NEXT YEAR as well?!

Say what you will about Rory and what he's done since, but it wasn't shrewd management to let him go to a rival, and it outlines exactly what you're saying about pathetic penny pinching and driving down the wage bill.

I read on BBC gossip, that the Blades are looking to take Defoe on loan in January. Cue the Billy Sharp transfer rumours again. Would love them to be true, but I think we've got more chance of signing Defoe tbh.

 

I wouldn't get your hopes up, there's about half the championship clubs and 23 league 1 club ahead of us for him I'm afraid.
