Thanks for the reply.
We clearly disagree, but I'm not going to spend all afternoon arguing about it!

For those who think this is just about impartiality... do you think if Lineker posted something along the lines of "It's about time we took control of our borders after Brexit", in regard to the new bill, he'd be getting treat the same by the Government and the Beeb?

If the BBC decide to back down, the are done in my view. The reason they are in this mess in the first place is they have allowed or not dealt with them adequately; presenters have been allowed to express their views on Twitter and other platforms. You cannot have the state broadcaster demanding the licence fee or be prosecuted and have lax guidelines on political opinions expressed by presenters. It is clear to me that ppl do not understand impartiality and are confusing it with free speech. Not surprising given the slip sliding and confusion the BBC employ when tackling this issue. Responses to my Twitter input also is alarming in that they believe the Government have done this and the BBC allowed themselves to be bullied.
As I say, not sure how the DG gets around this because he genuinely is between a wall and a hard place. Lineker is playing hard ball, and will demand his contract is paid up, and the BBC will have a hard job of convincing any Court that they are employing a consistent response. If the DG gets sacked, there is a case then for the Government to say, the BBC must find itself.Bronco likes this. -

Andrew Neil - editor of the Spector whilst on the BBC free to express his views.
Alan sugar - free to suggest corbyn is a nazi on twitter, free to express his views and still does the apprentice.
Whats so horrid about all this is Gary suggests the policy is akin to 1930s germany and then the government/BBC do exactly what 1930s germany would do… cant wait for this horrid far right gov to get booted out…nicknameless likes this. -

I thought you lot hated cancel culture with all the “snowflakes” but isn't that exactly what this is?
is “virtue signalling” just a dog whistle for things you don't agree with? Or did you read the daily Heil again?nicknameless likes this. -

On a different note what I find shameful is all the footballers involved in this controversy were bl00dy good players in their time, and most of us will have enjoyed and praised their efforts playing for club and country, but look at them now, embarrassing...Stop hovering to collapse...
