There is always the next time, that's what makes it interesting.

Kingfisher back and forth, four Buzzards circling above in the sky, great day.

Encountered two deer, a badger, an owl and a hedgehog on the road back from fishing between Harrogate and Skipton last night. No fish though.

I have been a birder for over 50 years. Started in Greengates woods all those years ago.

Must have been a poor day for fishing everywhere yesterday Craven
8 hrs for one carp pretty decent tho at 17lb
Can't compete with your sightings but spotted an otter and a mink

Sounds good, better to be out on the bank than not, even if nowt’s biting.

Fishingless weekend for me. No rain, need it to in order to get some salmon coming in the rivers, season’s not got long left, 15th Oct last time for migratory fish. Final brown trout competition next weekend, then it’ll be some pike fishing on the mainland in the winter once into late Oct.

Largest of two salmon today off our club water, no tweeds and range rovers required.

love it - rod, reel, line, flies, net on your back and off you go. It’s illegal to kill salmon on the west coast rivers so they both were released once recovered. Sure it’d be nice to be able to take one for the table but them’s the rules, someone in a high place put the onus on fishermen to practice mandatory catch and release, all the while everyone knows the decline in stocks is nowt to do with rod fishermen. Nice to see them swim off tbh.

As a predominantly carp fisherman it's always catch and release for me
Nothing better than to get the obligatory pic ensure the fish is healthy and release it back hopefully to catch again when a few pounds heavier.
First time for me am going for Esox Lucius this winter if these Old bones will stand the weather

Best of luck, winter pike fishing can produce many blanks - but maybe just for me! You might catch a whopper, i’ll probably try an overnight trip pike fishing on the mainland before November, then the odd trip here and there through until may next yr, time and weather permitting. Let us know how you get on.

I’d hope @Offside@Offside would contribute his piscatorial tales on here.

Nothing spectacular to report , won a local club match ( large bag of bream ) . 18lb mirror at Brigham , the fishings gone slack with the cold weather and heavy rain . About a month ago i was fishing ( Brigham again ) odd roach and bream small tench , the owner came over for money for day ticket ( £5 per day ) , the fishing had gone quiet , so i started talking to him --------- bang rod pulled round double , just managed to grab end of rod before it disappeared into the lake , the Carp ( i presume ) had shed the hook . The farmer looked at me , no words were spoken , i didn't get another bloody bite all day .

Any pike @Bantamsteve@Bantamsteve ? One to whet your appetite. Here’s one of mine and the lads’ pike from the weekend. Minus my head, i don’t want anyone getting jealous of my good looks :joy:

Offside match winner - different level is that lad.

    Nice one Skye
Carp still feeding nicely so far in local lake so not tried yet
Got sorted with all the gear and been watching pike chase the
roach in the canal opposite but that's as far as I have got
Won't be long till I give it a go tho
As you say well done to offside I bet he is still washing the slime off
his hands with his match winning large bag of Bream
