The lake owner thought it might be a perch/bream hybrid.
Be interested to hear if anyone else on this thread has any different thoughts.
You know I'm really a sea angler and have only just taken up coarse fishing. Raygill is only 400 yards away and there's also the Leeds/Liverpool canal and river Aire just down the road.

could be, difficult to tell from the picture, looks like a roach but you are right, lots of hybrids about. Not sure about perch/bream though. Maybe some sort of ide hybrid? Too long away from coarse fishing to know!

Looks like a nice roach to me as @Skyebantam@Skyebantam says doubt very much it's a perch/roach hybrid it would be a lot darker
If it is a hybrid it's more likely to be bream/roach
    Nice specimen tho

@Craven Cottager@Craven Cottager full match report from Raygill Fisheries, to appear here, later. We don’t want to upset the Countdown Illuminati, so best stick it on here for the time being (they’ll still come and read it, mind).

    ;)

Only had one decent bream. The rest were Diddy roach. Great relaxing day, though.

Yes, my mistake. I was still thinking about the huge bream that got away. Landing net wasn't close enough to hand as I was trying to haul it in. Actually bent my size 14 hook straight.

Well done @Craven Cottager@Craven Cottager sounds like a good day. Nice carp that, bet it went well. Used to catch carp on the pole, seat of the pants stuff at times, it was! You’ll have learned a bit more about the place, for next time. Same as us last night.

One of the better wild trout from last night about 10” on a ginked up Loch Ordie. My lad got two at once when I was rowing us back up wind and he was holding the rod and dangling the flies behind the boat, right old tussle and rigmarole to net them both

Thats not fishing! Went with the lad last week he had 4 carp up to 12lb. He only got out of his armchair 4 times. I absolutely battered him off the next peg on the pole. One carp to 14-15, 10 bream all about 3 lb, one tench and dozens and dozens of roach and skimmers to 3/4 lb. Must have had 80lb. Luncheon meat / hemp paste or 6mm luncheon meat cubes. The father /son bit was the most important!
