I've a feeling we might be able to get Paudie O'Connor back now the Whites have fluffed it again, he's certainly not Championship level .

 

It has to be considered a positive that his current club wanted to keep him.

Having said that, either through injury or form, he wasn't a consistent part of their starting 11. I think this is one of those so and so signings and we won't know how good he is until we see him in action in league two. Given that he can play a few positions in defense Bowyer might view him as a utility player?

The majority of our summer signings will probably fall into the category of "I'm not sure whether this is a good signing". I expect we'll only make a handful of signings where we can say with 90% certainty that they will turn out to be good. Thinking back to 2012-2013 I can remember being confident that McArdle, Doyle, Jones and Thompson would all turn out to be good signings. If we don't make at least three signings where we can be reasonably sure that they will be very good players then i'll start to get worried.

 

Even though he has only started 31 league games in 2 season? Yeah, I’d have been gutted had NKP only played that many times

 

This happens every pre season, it's nothing new. A bit of excitement with signings is needed after a miserable 18months!

Not true though mate. In their promotion season, he started 18 times, came on 4 times and stayed on the bench another 18 times.

Plus he’s actually 27yrs old and not 25. Not that changes much. He did finish the season in their team, starting 5 of their last 8 league games, although he was hauled off at half time against Sunderland

 

Aside from anything else he has a double barrelled name.

No. Stanley often played 3 at the back, with Mark Hughes the stand out player. This is why he couldn’t get in their team. He started 13 times, came on as a sub 4 times and was kept on the bench 23 times.

 

Biggest positive is getting players in early.

 

The accy fans say Coleman didn’t rate him but it seems clear most of their fans do

 

Shame we can’t sign the lad that kept him out of the Stanley team. Hughes looks a good defender and the two of them would be solid enough in L2. If not, I’d love us to sign O’Connor from Leeds, but not if only on loan

 

Apart from the fact that O’Connor is shite? Nearly nobody wants Anthony to still be here come the start of the season, but you’d be happy to keep playing him?

 

I know I know I had the get the fingers n toes out to get his age right, I was corrected by @bantamlad92 but I reckon if he stays fit and gets a decent tun in the side then we'll know what were getting. Having listened to his interview that's what he intimates has gone wrong for him last season. Easy to say that I know, but he cant be any worse than the two charlatans we had last season. Give him a run and let him find his feet, build some momentum and we can judge him then

 

I’ll give the lad a chance and he’s exactly what we need with being a huge giant but I would trust Coleman’s opinion of a player over their fans
