It's not about big names this season, it's about big characters. Hes experienced both in England and Scotland, still young at 25, a regular starter for Stanley when they got promoted from L2, versatile and a 6'5" monster. Offered a new contract by Stanley but turned it down to join us. That to me is a good start to the recruitment in my book.

Anymore bloody negatives? I've started to slowly stop reading this forum, all we get is moaners. The old season is done and dusted. It's a new start, new signings, bloody get behind the team and stop knocking them before they've even pulled the shirt on!

 

The problem never was the individuals within the squad, it was how those individuals were put together, the regime managing these individuals and the idiot at the very top having absolutely no idea at all about any aspect of running a football club. There are certain players such as NKP and Riley who i don't think warrant being at the club now, you could arguably add Wright to that list. But that squad as it stood last year lacked vital parts , like having an engine with half the pistons missing. Add those vital ingredients and those players lacked looked gash last season don't look half as bad. For instance we might see a different O'Donnell with a half decent defence in front of him, we might be lucky and get Doyle to look like a striker whose played at a higher level with a the right players and a game plan.

 

The fact a club in a higher league offered him a new contract to stay with them gives me more optimism about this signing than you then

Isn’t every signing at any level a “let’s wait and see” signing?

People just like to find negatives in everything we do as a club. Some like to see positives. It’s the way the world works.

“Happy clappers” is the biggest load of bollocks ever. Every fan is entitled to an opinion and that opinion will not impact on where we finish in the league.

 

The “truth” only hurts when it’s not true, as in this case. A very good team you say? Really? I see a player that got released from his club in Scotland and no record of any note. He also had an attitude problem and still has. We have no decent left-back. On the other side we have a player who is a decent footballer and we need to keep him fit, because the alternative has only ever played at kids football level. So just half of the back 4 are good enough, let alone cover.

Moving on to the middle of the park, who have we got really? Devine has done very little since first breaking in to the side. Wright has done nothing in his career, other than 1 good season at Gills and then we have Akpan who got relegated with Burton and struggled at times last season, plus Anderson if he signs.

We have 3 wingers on the books; one spent most of the season and for that matter, most seasons injured, one not selectable due to an allegation against him and the other is a kid trying to break through.

And up top, we have Doyle who has shown glimpses throughout his career, but only glimpses. Partnering him is a player that had a good 4mths prior to our signing him. He did nothing for us and was then loaned out where, despite the occasional wonder goal, didn’t pull up many trees for Lincoln and his minutes played reflect this.

A very good team you say? Ummm, we’ll have to agree to diasagree

 

Hopefully It'll be similar to how Killgallon could play at left back but was more effective at centre half.

6'5" fullbacks though? Could be a team of giants!

 

You can't go wrong with double barrelled names. They're always quality. We didn't even need to scout this kid, I've heard all I need to hear.

Tbf, the fact that he's not NKP is enough. Get him in the team.

 

just because a player has had one injury lay off it doesn't mean they're injury prone. if we don't want to bother with everyone that's missed some games due to an injury we won't sign anyone.

 

They could but I wouldnt want O'Connor bringing the new lad down to his level in ability and negative mindset. O'Connor is wank!

 

What's worrying is, O'Connor was both shite as well as entirely unlikable.

Yet no manager binned him off - where does that leave Riley?

Christ, there must be something badly wrong there for a lad on a three year deal to be absolutely nowhere near the team under multiple managers.

 

I wish O'Connor would follow him out. he's the least likeable player we've had in years.

 

Let's be honest, we aren't viable contenders for the autos at this point.

We are easily the worst of the four teams that came down, have less resources than Salford, and while we're trying to build a genuinely competitive side with real purpose, there will be more than a few teams who have already fostered that culture.

It's going to take a remarkable transfer window to turn down our relegated reserve team (our best players were on loan) into a top three side.

Right now, we're probably bottom half.

 

Decent enough signing for me no nonsense defender who is quick as well being tall. Surprised Accy didn't keep him.

 

Purely going off what Accrington fans have to say about him and the fact that he offers us some much needed height at the back I'd say its a good signing.

 

We have moaned about a centre half who is commanding. We know have one. Bring it on

 

I stand corrected, hes 27 at the moment, so theoretically his best years should still be yet to come. I'll put faith in Bowyer in his decision and will reserve judgement until I've seen him play of course, but adversely to your opinion, I think he sounds pretty good for starters.
