Think you mentioned the kids are 10 and 12, so they’re too old for it now, but for those with kids around six (if anyone is reading), the West (Main) stand has Billy’s Coup, where they can do coloring and a few craft bits in the concourse before the game. Billy Bantam comes in there too and they have given out little books for the kids before. My daughter liked it, anyway, and the lady overseeing it was great.

If bringing kid, the four things I’d think about are a) bad language b) toilet/bar facilities c) parking d) ease of getting out.

We’ve had season tickets in all three home stands and the suites in the Kop/Main stand so fwiw, my thoughts:

For me I’d say top tier of Sunwin is best overall view of pitch.

Newer stand so more legroom than bottom tier. No sun in your eyes (problem in Midland Road, which is also good). Plenty of families up there so fewer potty mouths than in Kop. Toilets are generally poor all around the ground but the traps with the thin wooden rims are the worst. Maybe not an issue with older kids but bottom tier of Sunwin are awful if you are taking your daughter who needs to sit! Seem to recall Midland Road having terrible toilets too. Maybe they’ve upgraded in recent years though.

Parking is poor around the ground tbh and will involve a walk. NW corner is awful getting out of. Other areas much of a muchness.

Tearbars in the top tiers are always less stocked than the bottom tiers and usually run out of bits before HT.

 

I guess a lot of stuff is subjective but, either way, hope you all enjoy the game!

Hope you enjoy….The bug is still going strong after roughly 62 years, can’t see it waining just yet?

 

It really took me back to being a kid and what an impact it all had on me....the lights, the noise (even just with 5k) the swearing etc. Watching her take it all in and "winning" with the penalty at the end. I really enjoyed the day through her experience and wasn't as grumpy when I got home as normal.

 

This might sound like a big ask, I want 90 minutes of good football and a couple of goals. I would be ecstatic!

 

Think you’ve got it a bit mixed up it’s being disappointed then go get into a permanent state on a Saturday night In fact if we all get in a state Saturday morning we might not be so disappointed come 5pm

 

I think there is a 3 hour limit on those retail parks.

I usually park on Canal Road.

 

Not sure where you are from, but Canal Rd is the main road towards Shipley. So main road parking near the car dealerships between Station Rd and Bolton Lane, or further on Canal Rd toward Shipley

Yes it is secure as well. Carlisle are bringing a fair number (over 1,000) tonight and as there are no trains back a lot will be in cars. I think Canal Road and side street parking might be harder to come by.

 

Would be my port of call for any evening or weekend game if I was taking the car. Easy enough to get away from, straight to the A650 or Manchester road.
