    Hi,
I’m taking my nephews (10 and 12) to their first Bradford game either versus Crawley or Cobblers. They’ve never been to a football game before so I want to make it as enjoyable as possible. The youngest is especially Bradford mad and I have previously bought him Bradford kits and this summer helped him get a pair of signed Harry Lewis gloves, as he plays in goal. They’re local lads and I’m pleased they’re supporting their local team. I’m a derby fan, and the choice is there’s - but anything other than Leeds haha! I’ve had some good days at Valley Parade following the Rams, and know what a great club it is.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could help me with info regarding which is the family stand and do the club do anything special for kids at the their first game / who to contact etc?
Really appreciate any help and best of luck for the rest of the season. Owd Hughesy is starting to build something hopefully!
    Cheers,
    Dave

I think you will be happiest in the Midland Road or East stand. The main stand is the official family stand, but Midland Road imho is a better bet. More leg room and no trouble. You should be able to get tickets easily in block A which is towards the kop.
I would avoid the North West stand and the Kop

It's my lads first game on Saturday (he's 8 today). We're sat in the East Stand as it's definitely the best one for a first timer.

Not sure about the other stuff you asked regarding special stuff for first games. I think we're just going to get there early and look around and that.

Thanks Frank. Hope you and your lad have a great day and enjoy the game.
The other stuff was like meeting the mascot etc which some clubs do. I’m not too fussed tbh, and as you say, we’ll get there early, look around, visit the club shop and soak it all in. Cheers.

Agree with the views of the other posters. Midland Road/East Stand. The only significant drawback of sitting in there can be if it is very sunny, as you catch it especially in the rows nearer the pitch, so think sunglasses/baseball caps if the weather is very good (rarer in October). Enjoy the day. Let us know how it goes.

Get down the front of the Midland Road stand with an autograph book and pen.

The lads warm up that side and frequently come over for selfies and autographs. Billy bantam, at some point, will also wander over for photos.

The sun can be a problem when sat in the Midland Road stand though. Right in your face.
For me the main stand is the better of the two, in the shade and, if you can get in line (or thereabouts) with the half way line, you have a great view of the pitch/game.

Why avoid the NWC @Allotment Bantam@Allotment Bantam ??
Its full of kids, new families who get tickets through the Morrisons scheme, old City fans bringing kids who might want to jump up and down and have a sing along, plus supporters who actually try to chant and get behind their team whilst trying to create an atmosphere with flags and banners.
Why take a 10 and 12 year old in the stands where they can hardly stand to cheer a goal and boo when a player gets subbed.
We want to keep the younger generation not bore them death.

Free travel rug and thermos flask for the kids in the Midland Road, otherwise known as the cast of cocoon stand.

I asked my 8 year old if he fancied going to a game - replied with “can’t we do something fun, like go shopping with mum”, then ran away giggling.

Only if you can put up with the grumpy old moaning brigade in C block.

I've had STs in every part of the ground and for me I'd say that apart from the congestion when leaving, the Midland Road definitely has the best match day experience.

Also, for young kids they get to be close to the players warming up and the chance of selfies etc that you don't really get in the main stand.

It depends on your point of view. Personally I dislike being deafened by the drum and some of the behaviour in the NWC leaves something to be desired in my opinion.
It's their first match, I think a gentler introduction may be called for. In the Midland Road we DO leap up and down and cheer when we score.
If you sit in the back half of the stand there is little problem with the sun in your eyes.
