    Well, it wasn’t the result we hoped for but nephew absolutely loved his first game. From the first glimpse of the ground down Valley Parade, his face lit up. Then seeing the actual pitch and inside the ground was amazing. And he easily managed to persuade me to buy him the full keepers kit and gloves. And hat a for me!
    Great day all round and he definitely wants to go again asap. So see you again soon!!

    Took my granddaughter to her first match today, she knows nothing about football but she loved the whole thing. I think we forget what draws us in to following a team sometimes. Saying that she's now banned obviously

    Thanks all for the advice. Used the Broadway in the end. Worth the walk as nice and easy. And it meant we could walk to the ground via the Shawarama kebab place! Just back to Newcastle - a long trip for 0-0. Pleased that last shot hit the post and bounced out otherwise would’ve been a real sickener! Cook looked good and lively but needs more support to help him. Oh well, consolidation in the play off spots
    Hoping to be down for another home game this season. Third time lucky for a win hopefully.

    All good advice ta. I remember being a nipper and freezing my wotsits off at games in the 80s! It’ll be hard getting the kids out of shorts though. They’re mad!
    I’ve packed my thermals and will be buying my first ever non Derby hat tomorrow at the club shop. Got a feeling I’ll be going to a lot of Bradford games if he gets the bug tomorrow :)

    It had to be done. Purchased a City home kit for the grandson today when I went down to see Kevin Sinfield arrive.
    He is still a bit young for a match day experience in my view, but getting him used to the idea.

    Tomorrow is the big day. We have tickets for the Cobblers game, sitting in the family stand. Really looking forward to it and will report back how the day goes. Should be a good top of the table clash. Hopefully lots of Bradford goals and a win!!

    I asked my 8 year old if he fancied going to a game - replied with “can’t we do something fun, like go shopping with mum”, then ran away giggling.

    Enjoy your day mate. One word of advice through experience, make sure they're well wrapped up it's going to be a cold one. It can hamper the kids experience when they're freezing cold - my lad didn't want to go again for a while as he was sat there shivering and that was on an October afternoon in 11/12c, tomorrow it'll be into single figures. It's easy to assume a coat and hat will be alright but get them in double socks and plenty of layers with gloves too.

    My youngest wasn't keen at first, it was a bit loud for him, but I persevered, and he's absolutely nuts about it now!! He's been going 12 years and he's only 15 and done about 15 away grounds which he loves telling his TV Prem watching school friends about!!

    After the success of the nephew’s first game against the Cobblers, he’s now hooked.
    So tomorrow, we’re going to the Carlisle game. Really hope there’s a home win. He was excited by a 3-1 defeat last time, so a win will send him bonkers

    Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the responses, feedback and generous offer. Sounds like you have the same issues of comfort v atmosphere v passion v safety v swearing and so on that is debated forever at derby. As most have pointed out, it’s up to the individual and the occasion. Nice to be able to choose. Will let you know when and where we go. Looking forward to the first of many games.     Get down the front of the Midland Road stand with an autograph book and pen.

    The lads warm up that side and frequently come over for selfies and autographs. Billy bantam, at some point, will also wander over for photos.
