Sorry to tell you this but you're wrong although, judging by some of your 'contributions' I doubt you'll accept that. Been supporting Cambridge Utd since 1973. First got onto this forum last season when Cambridge and Bradford were in the same division. Not my normal thing to do but with last season's weird crowd-less atmosphere I enjoyed the chat, and yes I like the craic on this forum in particular. But I'm always respectful because I love the football chat and appreciate other clubs' fans. (note the correct use of the apostrophe there). Oh and the last time I was called 'ridiculous' I think I was at primary school.

 

hi chaps, been watching this site since 1st replay. whatever the rights and wrongs of the farce that occurred first time, got to say i felt for your club and fans over the expense and hassle suffered. i feel i must apologise for the tw@ who singlehandedly stirred up the ill feeling over the two games, i wish you well for the rest of the season. yes, mr. adams not too popular down here, has anyone ever seen him smile?

 

Thought I'd let everyone know 2 things about the game. Firstly, on the Exeter City FC Official Twitter feed of the match, every time they made a substitution there was a little counting thing going 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 ...etc. Secondly we got our winner in the 87th minute only for it to be flagged offside...and the ref then overruled the lino and gave it. Exeter forum guys have gone into meltdown about incompetent officials....it's very funny!

 

As a neutral in all this I can honestly say that the FA has made an absolutely appalling decision. Exeter should have been kicked out of the competition and most Cambridge fans on the forum I'm on agree with that view. You have every right to feel aggrieved...hopefully Adams can use it as motivation for the replay of the replay.

 

View from the other side... You dominated the 1st half, though it was hard to tell if that was because we were so poor with the ball, the wind or if you were playing well. Angol was a real handful, and his goal was a lovely finish. I thought Cooke was your best player in the 1st half by a mile, with some lovely passes / pass & moves. 2nd half, you looked a shell of the team before the break, and then when Jay, Nombe, Ray and Collins all came on for us you didn't look like stood much of a chance.

Fair play to your fans that made the trip again for another tuesday night, long old poke that.

It isn't bad luck with our finishing. The players just lack the sufficient quality to take the chances. This current crop won't suddenly start taking their chances overnight.

 

Right on all points Rod. I think Jon has got a little confused about the "knowingly and wilfully cheated". There is plenty of evidence to show they knew, they even published the subs rules on their website / twitter page before the game. The second damming evidence is Matt Taylor's post match interview where he clearly says the subs made the difference. Of course they did, they scored all the goals. Whether it was cold blooded cheating is up to the FA to decide but did the actions gain an advantage?, most certainly as Taylor says himself.

So a fan from Exeter comes on and says how we dominated first half and collapsed in the 2nd, yet Adams is blamed for playing poor football? Do our fans not get it that the players we have aren't mentally strong enough to see out the win. Do you think Adams said, right forget what you've done first half I want you to try something else?

Those calling for change are probably the same ones who've called for change the last 5 times and look where that got us. Name a manager who's available and can suddenly get this lot to take their chances?

Let's say we sack him. To those outside the club they'd be asking, why have Bradford City sacked their 6th manaher in less than 6 years. A man with 3 promotions on his CV and had one transfer window to get it right? What player would want to come here knowing the next guy only gets 6 months.

As painful as this is right now, we've got to give him a chance. We have an horrendous injury list and no options. Surely I'm not the only one who can see this?

The fans are getting spin from the top, pathetic recruiting is to blame for a large part of this mess.

He needs to, and he needs to be backed. He’s shown very little to be inspired by, BUT….. he has been successful with several other clubs. So he obviously knows what he’s doing. Unpleasant as it may be, we can’t reduce our assessment of this club down to being about the manager. The squad needs a proper rebuild. If we start again now, we’ll just be landed with another manager who needs time to assess the squad, who’ll sign a few of his own duffers, and round and round we go.

Adams has had long enough to know exactly how much of a rebuild this squad needs. No excuses, he needs to be backed to do just that. No f****g about. It needs 5 or 6 in and out in January if we’re going to be in with any chance of the playoffs this season. Hard to do, and it’ll cost, but its time to stop talking bollocks in the press and misleading fans with Twitter campaigns, and tales of club partners, and go out and sign some bloody quality. Beyond your hard core of 5 or 6k, the club ain’t shifting STs next summer. People have had enough of watching this shit.

I think a lot of us are more annoyed that Sparks was quoted as saying that Adams WILL get us up at the first time of asking. That this WILL BE OUR SEASON. Stuff like that. I'm very happy to go along with the "process" if that's what this season has been outlined to be. A building process with a new manager etc etc. However, that's what we weren't told. We were told we'd be going all out to win promotion. In fact I seem to recall the quote of "nothing less than promotion will do".

 

Keep Exeter in the cup. They can just send us Matt Jay as compensation instead.

 

One being played on Saturday afternoon and one on Tuesday evening…. How many do you think would have travelled from Exeter had the fixtures been the other way round?

 

5 wins in 25. Excuses don’t cut it any more. This club is going absolutely nowhere - and that’s not a judgment based on tonight, or even this season. It’s based on everything we’ve done over the last 3 years. Riddled with disinterest and incompetence throughout, at this club.

 

Whilst I accept the squad is very poor, Adams is getting away with murder. 2 wins in 17 is relegation form.

 

We’ve come up against FGR, Port Vale and Exeter (for 2 x 90 mins in cup and league game….ignore ET tonight) and nothing has split us.

we are not a million miles off, ladies and gents, don’t let the emotion of an ET gubbing get in the way of reality.

adams is the man. He needs backing in Jan and allowed to work with the list he’s assembled with his new scouting network.
