I suspect the far greater cost, for the 6 English clubs, will be a significant weakening of their power within the game in this country, the potential cost of which could be huge.

Agree the other 14 Premier clubs could not let this opportunity pass without as you say weakening their power within the game, especially with everyone bar the 6 mentioned on their side.

the fact that it is all agreed and voluntary etc says to me that they realised they hadn’t actually broken any rules. Will be interesting to see how they deal with the other three.

These 9 have also signed an understanding that if they agree to anything similar then the ‘punishment’ is £90m. So at least next time they know what the cost is, so they will be able to work out if it is worth it

I wish the clubs had told UEFA to feck off when it comes to punishments. As I've said before they are giving corrupt UEFA more and more power. They are basically free now to introduce their version the the ESL at some point and no-one will be able to stop them. And its pretty clear their ultimate plan is to make the English Football Pyramid to end up being.

    1. Champions League
    2. Europa League
    3. Europa Conference League
    4. Premier League
    5. Championship
    6. League 1
    7. League 2
    8. National League
    9. National League N/S etc

I wouldn’t have an issue with it looking like that if there was a way to move upwards without waiting for another English team to come bottom of the league above

Apparently Juventus have been threatened with expulsion from Serie A. If that happened I could see it getting messy very quickly with court cases

And now apparently the three clubs have won the first part of the legal battle in the courts which could also mean UEFA having to remove the sanctions on the others, which presumably would mean Premier League would have to do same too.

Possibly but a key passage in that reads "We remain confident in the success of a project that will be always compliant with European Union laws."

currently our competition rules and those of the EU are almost identical, if not totally, as there have been more pressing matters since we left EU

We are no longer subject to European Union competition law, our current laws might be very similar but the government seemed eager to intervene when the European Super League breakaway was attempted, surely the next logical step is to put pressure on them to change our own laws to prevent a breakaway from happening. Real, Barca & Juve won't want to form a European Super League without the Premier League clubs involved. The whole reason they want the breakaway is because of the power of the Premier League and because they worry they can't compete.

We need to put the Premier League teams in a position where they legally can't breakaway, whilst thwarting Real, Barca and Juventus' attempts to form a rival competition.

Yes things could change to stop it in the future but all the agreed punishments will probably have to be removed and any fines returned.

Looks like UEFA are backing down until European Court make a judgement
