You mean the power grab that would have removed the power from yoyo teams who vote anything down that doesn't come with more parachute money. As Dennis mentioned in another post big picture would have actually helped fix the EFL by reducing parachute payments and increasing solidarity ones. Parachute payments are what's killing the EFL clubs about £260mill gets paid out to almost 10 clubs each year, solidarity payments are £106mill (and these 10 get their cut of that as well). Even when those getting the parachute payments totally blow the money and don't get back up in 3 seasons (or worse get relegated further) this money not only forces others to overspend both to compete but also just by raising the amount players ask for as there are other clubs who can pay more.

It's actually hilarious seeing you, of all people, so outraged about this. You cheerlead for the people who facilitate this shit.
What is happening is the direct result of all the economic deregulation set in train by Thatcher and Reagan - allowing multinational capitalists to move money around at will, evade taxes and acquire companies like Manchester United plc using borrowed money, plunging previously rich clubs into horrendous debt.
These owners are multinational capitalists who don't give a flying feck about the clubs or their history or their fans. They don't care about football - it's just product to them - simply a means to make money. They are no different to companies like Serco, who will take on anything they think they can make money from and strip it to the bone to maximise profit, regardless of the impact on the 'consumers' . Wiping arses in care homes, running incompetent Covid test & trace services or playing football matches - it's all the same to these people - it's just widgets, and it matters not to them whether the product is any good or who suffers in the process as long as the bottom line is good.
This is Clown Johnson's 'greed is good' philosophy writ large. Their snouts are in exactly the same troughs as your Tory Party poster boys.

A YouGov poll has been done and 79% of those surveyed were against it.

now I don’t think that is bad to say it was within 24/48hours of the announcement and coverage and public response has been so negative.

And Man City, Barcelona and Athletico.

now if they have signed contracts to take part I’m guessing there will be a penalty clause to withdraw, so the other 8 teams share the cash for doing nothing when it collapses.

I never said they were to blame. The club owners are to blame. But Thatcherism/Reaganomics took the shackles off multinational capitalism and created the conditions in which these money-grabbing owners from countries with no football history could infest and despoil our national game.

Chelsea and Man city owned by oligarchs who don't need the money. Pulled out first.
But the 'big clubs' in millions of debt such as the US owned ones slower to pull out.

And well done all the fans. You have now killed football because now UEFA has complete power. The structure of the ESL wasn't good but letting UEFA win means within 10 years we will have their originally planned system, probably made even worse.

I hope you lot enjoy playing in a league that is the equivalent of the combined countries league now

*Edit* Just to add I didn't like the ESL setup but it needed Football to push for a better, fairer version of it away from UEFA's self-interest. Until football gets itself broken away from UEFA and FIFA its doomed

They've lost all credibility now and probably weakened their own negotiation position with UEFA for a bigger share of the Champions League revenues. Their power play is over!

ESL '12' - We deserve a bigger share from the Champions League
    UEFA - Why?
ESL '12' - Because we attract more sponsors, sell more pies, get more viewers, have wealthier owners etc etc
UEFA - What if we give you a smaller share 'cos there's more clubs in the Champions League now?
ESL '12' - We'll sulk, stamp our feet and go off to start our own super league. Then you'll be sorry!
    UEFA - Really?

It's back to their domestic leagues now for the big boys ... with their tails between their legs. And the winner of this match is UEFA!
