apologies if this has already been posted, but I lifted this from the BBC website, it is a comment from the late Bobby Robson. Absolutely describes the real game.

Why do people care so much? Over to the late Sir Bobby Robson...

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

They should play the game now and not tell anybody. Then put it on Sky on Tuesday as 'Live'.

    Exactly.

We should all be far more empathetic to the idea of clueless foreign owners acquiring clubs only to take them backwards.

I wish the clubs had told UEFA to feck off when it comes to punishments. As I've said before they are giving corrupt UEFA more and more power. They are basically free now to introduce their version the the ESL at some point and no-one will be able to stop them. And its pretty clear their ultimate plan is to make the English Football Pyramid to end up being.

    1. Champions League
    2. Europa League
    3. Europa Conference League
    4. Premier League
    5. Championship

Thought this super league was no relegation at all as they will have no where to be relegated to. They will have left the league structures.

Those clubs are desperate and feel they have the rights to remain at the top table forever. I think this pandemic has sped up this league formation. Juventus last season lost 71 million. Despite the size of these clubs those sort of losses cannot be maintained.
You only have to look at Man City for example, if Pep goes which he will one day they can’t be guaranteed a manager will come in and replace him and do aswell so top 4 is not guaranteed.
Man Utd another side who for the last sort of 6/7 years haven’t always performed and done well to get far into champs league and gurentee that income.
Liverpool look set to miss out this year. What better way to guarantee yourself large amounts of cash?

he was brought up with Man Utd as a boy, the same Man Utd who planned the original breakaway that ended up with the compromise of the Premier League.

Bloody masochist!- City have enough trouble beating former non-league Harrogate without adding those greedy sods to the list.

They will be making the rules and to be honest if they want 6 from the Premier League Arsenal have to be in the 6 for my brass.

It's all about money, rich foreign owners who want even more so if it was to happen I'd say Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs would be the invited teams, with regards past history Man City would not be anywhere near the top 6 but yes you've guessed it money counts so they'll be involved IMO.

Could well be Brentford! ... Or Watford? ... Or maybe Millwall by the time the new Super League has been formed! ;)

Did Neville make that claim if so I didn't heard it, it will be interesting to see how present day players possibly involved in a European Super League will react as employees of their football clubs, will they have no say as long as their clubs are paying their wages, is it that simple I'm sure the PFA will be having a word, I'd say the Premier League players put plenty into the PFA coffers ?.

Writing was on the wall when Manchester United dropped out of the F A cup so they could play in that far east job. They have come in and stolen the clubs and the money will come from far East subscriptions. They no longer represent the areas they are based in and should change there names.

2024 they are set to change and uefa were expected to announce a new format today at a meeting. Looking at a Swiss league style model to guarantee more games for better sides.
They are already close to getting what they want but they just want more and more until there is nothing left. Let them all eat themselves up and feck them all off

True, but they should know much, much better. The European Cup is interwoven into the fabric of that club. They blazed the trail of joining that tournament against the will of the FA. The Munich Air Disaster - this action spits on the history of the club. Its disgraceful. And who decided that Arsenal and Spurs should have a seat at the f**king table?! Its madness.

The value of the German Club ownership model showing through again, because it prevents them from being able to get drawn into this sort of thing. We need exactly the same thing here.

Can't do we sold out years ago. Spurs are a great example of what football has turned into. Season tickets approaching £1500 for a team that had no intention of winning anything. A shiny new stadium bringing in millions, those very millions going to players and shareholders. No longer the game of the masses, at the top level turning into an elitist plaything like golf and formula 1. It's why clubs in Germany like RB Leipzig are so despised, they stand for everything wrong with football.
