    Neville's outdone himself throughout all of this so far. I think the point has been rightly made it is a bit rich for these guys who made good money from the PL breakaway and such to have such a damascene conversion, however they are absolutely saying the right things and backing the right people in backing the fans. This is also a lot worse for everyone than the PL ever could be I reckon.

    As my old man said, we'll find out who's made of what over the next few weeks

    I'm amazed to think that one of these 'super clubs' could come bottom of this new league for 10 years running and yet carry on playing in it with billions more pounds than when they started.....!!

    Football is cyclical and these new wealthy owners don’t like that side of. Funny how Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal spurs not guaranteed top 4 and the champions league money and this gains even more traction. It stinks

    Did make me laugh watching the pundits on BT Sport losing their shit over it. The game has been shaftng fans for years and youve happily stood by and taken the dirty money. Banners have been in grounds for years, especially in main land Europe, berating the likes of Fifa and greedy owners, you'd think it had only just happened the way the likes of Neville were banging on. The same Neville trying to buy success with those very millions now. I saw a piece by Kieran Maguire where Man Utd had paid out £837million in interest payments alone since 2006, before that the club had money in the bank and was self sufficient. The game of football is beautiful in its simplicity, the business of it is corrupted to high hell.

    What great insight albeit from one board member of one of the 6 'breakaway' clubs.

    He is being a little naive about the relegation issue. The US owners also have sporting interests in NFL, NBA and MLB back home and they are all closed shops with no relegation or promotion at the top level. That's what these guys have been brought up on and know nothing different. I'm not surprised that they would question why the most important of all European football leagues should have relegation and promotion. 'We' take it for granted that there is relegation and promotion; they simply don't.

    Having said that, I'm still of the view that this is a power play for the 'Big 6' and the other top teams to get a bigger share of the Champions League revenue for themselves.

    It’s shocking. Did anyone watch Neville before the Leeds v Liverpool game? He was spot on. And Klopps interview? He basically admitted that he wasn’t told by their owners and found out through the media! So not only do these owners not give a f*ck about their fans, they don’t even care about their managers!! I can see Klopp walking.

    What makes me angry about this is these clubs are chasing more revenue because of the absolutely obscene amount players are paid now, ridiculous.

    A crazy idea which just shows how detached owners of these clubs are from the fans, most have probably never kicked a football and it shows.

    Sadly FIFA and UEFA are no better, nor the TV companies who these pundits who’ve been preaching all week work for.

    John Barnes said it best this morning, what is going to change? Ticket prices for fans? Replica shirt prices? Are they going to stop moving kick offs every week for TV purposes when it makes it impossible for some fans to attend? Not a chance non of the above care about fans sadly, football has been dying for years and unless they all somehow got taken down it won’t change.

    I suspect it's less about whether any formal punishment is required but more about whether any punishment can be applied to the 6 ... whatever we fans might want. As you suggest, trust between the 6 and the 14 (and probably the rest of the pyramid) will have broken down and it will take a long time for that trust to be rebuilt.

    I look forward to the outcome of the Govt's review into the governance of the sport. There's been few if any examples of where Govt has wanted to get involved in the regulation of football over the years. Only last year, they turned down a request from the EFL for some short term 'Covid' funding as was provided to RL, RFU and some cricker clubs and a whole plethora of arts and music venues. Their belief at the time was football was big enough to sort itself out!

    It will be very interesting to see whether they adopt the German system of 50+1 (as they've already mentioned and others are trumpeting) which puts power in the hands of the 'members' of the clubs which in most cases means the fans. The issue for the Govt will be that will potentially cost the Govt money, and lots of it, to compensate owners of the clubs for losing control of their own businesses. I have a suspicion that the 50+1 idea will get lost before we hear about the outcome of the Govt review. And really that's the one thing which will guarantee placing control of clubs in the hands of fans.

    The new super duper european league will have no relegation for 15 of its 20 members-not very competitive.

    It WILL be bad news for City as well, if sky lose out then the trickle down money to the EFL will stop or dwindle.
    No doubt the likes of amazon prime will be lined up to broadcast this set-up abomination.
    The greed needs to be kicked and kicked hard.
