It doesn't matter if we finish in that particular configuration, the point is pretty clear without needing every exactitude. If Swindon finish top and we finish seventh, it still isn't true that we're the only club to ever consider subsidising wages to a rival club in the same division. I'm not making any point beyond that, but people are making claims that are clearly nonsense.

Can someone set me straight? He has played for 2 clubs this season. If another club actually bought him, can he play for them straight away?

Yes in any league that is summer based, narrows it down a bit.

He was loaned out to improve his development.

Completely different situation. A poor comparison.

If someone at the club isn't tapping up every mega bucks Chinese team out there, I want to know why not!

Just show them the stats, write down an 8-digit figure, and hope they realise we mean GBP and not Yen.

Was Gareth Barry loaned out to improve his development?

    Are do only forwards count?

How narrow do we need to set the parameters for this 'never happened before' nonsense?

    Revised post:

"This is ridiculous! No League Two club has ever been stupid enough to loan out an experienced, goalscoring striker exactly 31 years old to an arbitrarily determined rival side in the fourth division!

    Called Eoin Doyle."

ONLY BRADFORD CITY COULD DO THAT, FACT!

We had Victor Moses on loan for a season from Chelsea, before us he was loaned to Stoke for a season, Liverpool for a season and played for them two seasons, they bought him from Wigan, so having started at Palace he'd played about 250 games by they time we had him "for development"

I hear he will be 'developing' at Fenerbahce for the next 18 months.

Good look to the lad, he's 28 now, so by the time he's 30 I reckon he'll be Chelsea's best player.

West Ham and Stoke were never rivals of Chelsea. They were never ever chasing the same things. Chelsea are a cut above both.

Moses was allowed to go to Pool because they were well stocked in that area and didn't need him.

    Again, different situations to ours.

we're going to look like a right set of chumps when we make the deal permanent.

if any other club had been stupid enough to loan out the best striker in the league, they'd be bringing him back at 1 minute past midnight on new years day. we're going to let him go permanently.

But when we loaned him out he wasn't "the best striker in the league", come on @Ricc@Ricc hindsight is a wonderful thing, it's what decision the club makes with regards to Doyle's loan in the new year that counts, I'm sure whatever that decision is it will not be liked by some fans.

    Disagree Dave
Not a massive fan of Doyle but you dont just go from single figure scoring to however many he has now overnight
The talent was there we just didnt play to his strengths exactly the same is happening with Vaughan now hence his poor goal return this season
Unless GB realises this we may as well leave Doyle alone and Vaughan will continue to struggle
Both good strikers for this level but played completely the wrong way

I don't disagree what Doyle might do or not do if he returns, but he was not the best striker in the league when we allowed him to leave on loan, why would we chance changing things to hope Doyle continues with his phenomenal scoring record at Swindon when he offered little last season, yes in a poor team granted.
Bowyer had him for a number of games last season to analyse just what he needed up front he made the decision (as he'd quoted) he wanted power and pace, power was never Doyle's game where as Donaldson is that type of player, I'm sure the situation with regards players he wanted in and how they would be financed would have been discussed and I would also think the out come would have been he could go for Vaughan & Donaldson but if anyone came in for the likes of Doyle, Akpan, Wright etc they would be sold or loaned out.
The Vaughan comment is a little unfair he is being asked to play a role Donaldson would normally be playing when fit, he's the target man for Otech, where as Donaldson will do the physical stuff when he comes back, hopefully that will get the best out of Vaughan, it's all about opinions mate.

Bowyer didn't want Doyle to leave on loan and let's not forget Doyle was our leading goal scorer last season.

Doyle has proved he can score goals and with 18 goals this season think he's showing the world he knows where the back on the net is.

Vaughan isn't playing as a target man at all. He's been wasted.

It's all about opinions I agree but it should be about competition on the pitch also.

Bowyer is a disgrace. All that talent up top at his disposal and he can't get a tune out of any of them. Makes me sick. I'm really struggling to get behind Bowyer. Seems a nice guy but my finger is on the trigger. Can't watch much more of him wasting a great opportunity to produce a good side. Other managers would kill to have what he has in the squad and he's restricting the players and the team with no benefit. If he's not top 3 by boxing day the trigger is pulled for me. Wasting his and our time.
