How is it going to cost us 200k to take him back?
You do understand FFP is a load of bollocks
No, the league is dreadful and I said I didn't want Doyle to leave so get him back

That's what I would be saying and I believe Bowyer will be saying the same.

If it's not down to fans then why you here and given Doyle a nickname?

You're desperate for him to stay and I hopefully we laugh in your faces on the 4th of Jan when Doyle is wearing the City shirt again and scoring against you all.

Fordy I am so glad you are biting, this is gold lol.

I was on here to see what you guys thought of Doyle and for info you may have on whether he would be recalled that we didn't have. Of course I would prefer to keep a player that's in red hot form, and I would be sad to see him go. But we were doing well before he joined, and brought him in as Jerry Yate got a 3 match ban. Keeping him just saves us hassle and having to get another striker into form.

At the end of the day football is a massive pissing competition, and if you look at the history of what leagues Swindon and Bradford since it changed to its current format Swindon have been in League 2 five seasons and Bradford seven, so if you are going to call us shit and claim bragging rights you may want to look at your own history first.

You’ll have to pay his full wages for 6 months = £120,000

The reason he left was to keep you within FFP - 55% of turnover allowed for wages. O2ner will have to inject money as a gift as loans don’t count as turnover.

Plus you’ll lose out on whatever fee he is worth at the moment.

    How do you explain this-

We had Vaughan and Donaldson up front earlier in the season. Either they were both playing centrally or Donaldson was cutting in from out wide. Here's the thing though, Vaughan was almost anonymous whereas Donaldson was facing all kinds of abuse for regularly missing sitters. He wasn't subject to better service and he wasn't even our most central player but he had this weird knack of finding himself in the thick of the action when no one else seemed to have a sniff.

Going back further than that we had Charlie Wyke. Didn't play in a team that created loads of chances and didn't do an awful lot apart from score regulation chances you'd expect any striker worth their salt to score. This led to many, including myself, to believe that he was easily replacable and that anyone in his position would have scored a similar amount. Sound familiar? Well the act is we've not had anyone even remotely as good since.

None of those 2 examples stack up with what you're saying. The best strikers have anticipation and instincts you can't teach and not all strikers have this in their arsenal. There are also obvious and subtle differences in a players makeup that, to state the obvious here, makes them all different (who'd have thought!) and determines how effect they are at particular areas of the game- in this case goalscoring. With so many variables changing aswell as overall ability to account for I don't think replacing Doyle is half as easy as you're making out, and certainly not as easy as @jon@jon Butterfield is trying to portray which is simply sticking another striker up front. That's actually hilarious, although if you've read some of his other posts on this topic not exactly surprising

we have a few on the Town forum as well. They are fun to wind up lol.

Most people I see posting on this thread are decent and level headed, and a lot of you make really good points.

All i would say is that Swindon have spent three seasons down in league two and we had to put up with dross until we found a manager that brought in a decent philosophy and the players he wanted. He managed to clear out a lot of the crap and bring in players he knew he could play using his system. You are currently going through the same the same and I would imagine that you will go through a manager or two before you get out the league. There are so many parallels that can be drawn its its unreal. We were sniffing around the playoffs most of our first season back before failing at the playoffs, then last season was mid table boredom. Finally we have something to cheer about, and I hope you do to... but not before we get out this league haha.

Another total misquote of what I said.

Perhaps you disagree so strongly with me because you struggle to understand the actual points I'm actually making?

Why should we aim to be in the league for 3 seasons? We aim to get out this season and hired Bowyer to do it. If we don't then yes we will more than likely sack him but I believe Bowyer didn't join us to be a league 2 manager.

You don't wind me up at all. I just see you all as being top and I want to be top! So that mean stuff we have to take you down. If we end the season in 3rd then I won't be bothered but I don't believe Swindon are better than us.

You make some sensible points which I can not disagree with
The leading question is why he didn't do it for us and would our manager be prepared to change his style of play should he return the latter i very much doubt as Vaughan is beginning to realize

He did. He was our scorer last season and Bowyer didn't want him to go this.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You expressed the same opinion as the Swindon fan and even thanked him/her for backing you up

    Reading the following posts:

    and

It's very clear that you're dismissing his ability as a striker and are attributing his success down to luck. He's been fortunate that he's given the best chances and that's the only reason he's scored as many as he has.

All my posts in response, from why no one else is close to matching his goal tally to if sticking any old joe up there would produce similar returns have been centred around that, so no misquoting from me. If there's something else you're trying to tell me then you should say so although i think your stance on Doyle is clear enough.

I doubt it. Bowyer is a very stubborn manager and clearly prefers 1 up top. It's been said elsewhere but if all we're going to do is hoof it it doesn't really matter who we have up front.

If Bowyer has any sense though he'll recall him, give him a strike partner and play 4-4-2. We'll have the players to do it and it might produce better results from an attacking sense.

Bowyer stated he didn't want Doyle to leave and considering he's scored nearly 20 goals already I am sure he wants him back.

Mate, he has this hatred to the players of last season.

Doyle was our leading goalscorer in div 1. It's no shock he's ripping it up in div 2 now.

Bowyer also promised us a side with pace and power who play attacking football, so who knows? I hope you're right though. Him and Vaughan up front could be lethal.

    You're right.

Everybody should have hatred to the players of last season. I get it was hard, but they were disgraceful with few exceptions.

Some of the tales show how unprofessional some of those players were.
