It’s definitely central midfield where the team isn’t working as well as it could. Most of our midfielders are to similar technicaly good but alike. I would love a midfielder in the mould of Gary Jones who runs with the ball and is box to box

Good left backs and left wingbacks take some finding and Wood is impressive and improving. I also think O’Donnell has been a revelation and Anthony O’Connor has been the cornerstone of our defence.

Like away at Carisle you mean
We were very fortunate to beat Morecambe at home
Can you see a pattern developing here
1-0 is fine but you only need to concede 1 and its 2 points dropped
2-0 is better concede a goal and you still are in possessions of all 3
Not seen one team this season that wouldn't crumble under pressure

Maybe if they weren't all defensive midfielders it would help

He’s not everybody’s cup of tea but Lee Cattermole, currently playing for some extremely minor Dutch side, could maybe do us the ball winning job in midfield. Loads of experience and still not that old. Does get sent off though.

Have you looked at results across the leagues smaller teams have shocked plenty of the bigger teams . Morecambe pressed us but our keeper didn’t have a save to make.Take another match a team who should be doing better because they have some good players Mansfield. We were talking to one or two of their fans pre match and they were saying their players had been publicly how they were up for the match against us and you could see how much they were up for it in the warm up fist pumping and the like they overwhelmed us in midfield and in other seasons they would have beat us. If we had gone without the extra defender and midfielder I think we would have lost that match

That's my quandary with GB he seems to worry more about the opposition than our own team
Good teams get the ball in the opposition box quickly you don't concede with the ball in the opposition half

There is a middle ground but good teams are built on good defence

Whilst I can't disagree Park, it would be nice to occasionally go down the Kevin Keegan school of management route :)

Since early October, we've simply lost a very big attacking option. When Donaldson was getting abused for not scoring enough, some of us pointed out that he was invaluable to the team.

And before you talk about us surely been big enough to cope with injuries, let's remind ourselves that all clubs have key players, that when they are missing are a big loss. Unfortunately it means going to Plan B and sometimes the footie will be awful - but most fans are OK with this provided some progression is been made

But then again you seem to have an inflated idea about how easy it is to win promotion from L2, as shown by your "win the league at a canter" comment. If this league why did it take is us 6 seasons last time or Portsmouth four seasons. Why aren't our relegated candidats 'wowing' the league - if it's this easy? Clearly big teams like us don't have to do silly little things, like respect your opponent or change the attacking intent if injuries dictate, we should march on regardless!!

You said get balls quickly into the box. Usually that's a long ball. "slick forward passing"?? This is League 2, clubs who get promoted realise quickly that pragmatism wins, not artistic content

I'd really love us to play the football you think we should play. But we'd simply be down here for seasons. Oh we'd be respected for our passing quality, i.e. like Exeter. But note they got relegated in 2012 and are still trying to get promoted

Exactly. They've always been crucial in L2. Too many see this as a negative, when in reality it's a positive.

Such players, see Chowdhury last night, or Cullen when we had him, dictate the pace of the game, get the creative passing players involved and the whole thing improves. Of course as you go up the leagues, these players are more than just crude 'bite your legs' players

But apparently we already have such players. The fact that Reid and Palmer are been played centrally, which is their best position (CM) and end up more defensive, because no-one can hold the ball up front, seems not to be observed by some :)

Get an enforcer, play Reid slight forward of them and then we can play two wingers, no need for a retreating back five and be comfortable as opposed to often getting over-run

I’ve found the article from the official website when we signed Doyle which says it’s an INITIAL two year deal. This suggests that we have an option to extend his contract at the end of the season. 5A0B6A30-0AFA-47EE-A6DA-F7AE88E1D879.png

Don't thinking the Swindon fans like me :joy:

That Fordy is an absolute ****, which goes beyond normal **** status. No doubt that poster will think it is iconic that they have gained attention from another forum and be quite proud of it. Clucking moronic comments which most on there tire of.

It is quite laughable "200k or get clucked", "You won't sign him Power has no money", "he won't sign for you just stay on loan"

Make your mind up you Neolithic ****. Bet he's sucking his grandmothers tits to soothe himself after seeing that tweet from @EFLHub tonight.

Don't bite down to hard son, we know you struggle with that underbite of yours.

    :joy::joy: Gold.

@Dennis@Dennis is a flickle Twit also

Oh and all Bantam Talk members are stupid.

Seriously, we better not do business with Swindon. The fans don't like Bradford City at all.

So anyone figured out how we welcome Doyle back with open arms, singing his name and that WITHOUT looking like the egg-faced hypocritical fickle fans that we're bound to look like...?
