I’m absolutely certain Doyle will start. If you bring him back on his wages he’s got to. No one else in the team is a regular scorer - in open play.

As we speak Doyle owes us much more than we owe him. We pushed the boat out to sign him and he didn’t score as many as he should, regardless of whether we suited him or not. We’ve now got him for five months and I expect us to play to his strengths and him to go all out for us and be on an open top bus tour of Bradford at the end of the season before signing for somebody else. That way we can thank him very much, shake his hand and wish him well for the future. Everybody happy.

 

Just a thought but if we wanted to be really mischievous we could make Rotherham an offer for Jerry Yates. That would really give Wellens something to grumble about. He would say we were trying to destabilise one of his players and we could say, on the contrary, we think he’d pair up very nicely with our player Doyle!!

 

We've got 5 games in Jan before the window shuts. Anyone else get the feeling that we'll play Doyle in the hope we can get him firing and if it doesn't work out then maybe we sell at the end of the window? That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for me, although naturally I hope Doyle fires us to the top of the league!

 

The only team he can play for this season besides us is Swindon. Can they really afford him, our fee and his wages? I can’t see this as a possibility myself.

 

We can’t sell at the end of the month. It will leave us short of striker and vulnerable. No way, we need crack on regardless now. We have made our decision good or bad. We have taken the risk.

 

Depends though, in a couple of weeks they may have more cash from the Jayden Bogle deal and the 130k offer that was rumoured on here isn't terrible. If he doesn't score for us I wouldn't be surprised if we re-open negotiations

Doyle has just been told the formation for Saturday.

 

He looks happy enough here! Obviously glad to be back. We just need him to mention ‘unfinished business’ for the rehabilitation to be completed.

 

Develops into playing a defensive formation at home to the bottom of the league half way through the season We have had a striker capable of scoring on a level with Doyle in the league just never chosen to play to his strengths.

I don’t where the fallacy comes that we we only have to play attacking football to take the league. It wouldn’t be the case we should keep it tight and go for it when it’s needed

 

I wouldn’t say we’ve fluked it. But I agree there have been times we have scraped wins against the run of play but that’s football. What we have done is thrown loads of points away by missing clear cut chances, not least headers. If Doyle puts away only a few of these we will win matches which we have been drawing recently. I think we also need a midfield enforcer, a hard man, somebody to offer protection to our ball players. This is to my mind an important position in the lower divs.
