    Can they afford his wages?

Make offers all they want but it's becoming clear (like @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler pointing out Wellens moaning about a player's wage and wanting him to take a 75% wage cut to join them) that they won't be able to afford the total package.

Why would Doyle take a pay cut to join them?

Even if the 130k offer is true it's not acceptable (he's worth double that to them) Plus I would be demanding all money up front. They play too many mind games for me.

Got to be careful! Even WBA haven't received 130k from Barca for a 16 year they sold to them as yet and taking legal advice and Liverpool sold the 146m Couthino money to a bank instead of waiting for Barca to pay them. This is Barca one of the richest clubs in the world. So think about what it's like in div 1 & 2.

Football isn't as straight forward as many think! Just sell! And what wait 5 years for your money? What good is that? Would rather money coming in from season ticket sales and pomotion which hopefully Doyle will help us achieve.

Like @JonButterfield@JonButterfield has said it's end of story now..

Let's concentrate on winning on Saturday and hopefully Swindon and Crewe drawing or Swindon losing!

I fully believe we will overtake Swindon now.

Miss. It was a bit of sarcasm. I'm hoping Wellens gets sacked before the end of the season!

And he wasn't under pressure after we'd lost to Crewe and got just 8 points from 6 matches, in addition to throwing away a goal lead

The pressure he has now is probably the mildest he's had in his career, given that he had the Venky's and then Oyston's as his bosses

And what if there's no Doyle goal and we win all three?

We're 4th, not 14th. At the start of the season most on here said we'd no chance - so in that case they must all now see automatic as a bonus!! So how is Bowyer under pressure, when we're outside the auto's on goal difference?

January's a tough month. Crawley are no mugs, as we saw earlier this season . Colchester competed well in the league cup. Scunthorpe will always be a difficult match, given that they've been one of our chief rivals for a few years etc

I'll be delighted if we're still in a similar situation at the end of this month - given that Devitt, Donaldson and Mellor should all be back and firing

You would be happy him playing Doyle the way he did last season and the first couple of games this season then
    OK !!!!

A bit like Cricket's Jimmy Adamson, we need to wrap these vital older players in cotton wool. Not bothered, if he's not back until March, if it means he's back for the rest of the season

If he's had a setback, it could be that this is the reason Doyle has been welcomed back. I think you, I and one or two others stated that him coming back, could depend on how ready Donaldson was

Not the same situation. As you can see from all the relegated teams, they've improved as the season's gone on, simply because when you get relegated, inevitably there's going to be some early season experimentation that doesn't work

Different now. A 23 goal striker goes in the team and to a degree dictates what they want for it to continue. His team-mates will simply listen

Time and the way things are handles moves on, develops etc

No until Donaldson is fit I would keep Vaughan doing that although not his game like Doyle he does it better I would play Doyle further up. When Donaldson is back I think Vaughan will score at least as many goals as Doyle.what I don’t want is to disrupt a style of play that is working to accommodate one player

No chance Swindon can afford him.

£150k+ and then 6k a week on wages? Good luck.

    You've lost Pele, Ginger Pele!

It's not working though Park. Not scoring any goals or creating any chances. We've been very lucky this year with deflections OG's and penalties. Massively papered over the cracks has the league position. No chance we can play like we have in the last month and get into the top 3 and stay there. We've absolutely fluked it so far. Massive improvements required.

Largely agree. But I think the squad is fairly adaptable anyway, which is how Bowyer wants it

I would of thought Vaughan will be getting a 2 match ban soon.

Do you understand competition for places? If Donaldson is back and Vaughan is out & Donaldson and Doyle do well then Vaughan will have to stay on the bench until things change.

Same applies to Donaldson . If Vaughan and Doyle do well on Saturday and before Donaldson is back then he will have to wait on the bench.

Or Bowyer might play all 3.

Rather Vaughan, Doyle or Donaldson on the bench than Patrick for example

But Liverpool (and please, no, I'm not comparing our play to their's) fans could say the same thing about their matches this season. My step-son who's a fan, reckons they've played like last season about five times

But you don't hear Klopp go on about luck. We've simply made our own. It's bonkers to say it's luck that we've had penalties. The idea was that Connolly runs on to balls in the box, using his pace and it worked, I think, three times against Mansfield

Presumably, we were unlucky to be relegated when we didn't get penalties etc?

And we certainly weren't lucky against Salford!!!

Again, I wish fans could give some credit for us still getting results with an injury side, with a relatively new manager who's had one window after a relegation season

Your points are not totally invalid, just harsh given all the backstory

Good news. I thought he calmed us down against Morecambe, when he came on.

To me Doyle is like any other player, if someone puts a daft offer in then we take it

The fact that they've turned down that £130K (or whatever it was), means he'll be costing us more than £200K between now and the end of the season. In fairness, it shows we mean business. We would have snapped anyone's hand off 12 years ago, in our previous first season down here

I think it shows, that we have far more of a stable and true financial model than we've had in years

Christ!! Have you ever known a manager so loudly publicise his targets. This will be going down great with the rest of the squad, top of the table - but apparently they're so poor their manager has to get out his begging bowl, live in public

I think Power, needs to tell him to pipe down a bit

I don’t think we have had any luck whatever take injuries and illness as one example one stupid lunge costing us two points at Macclesfield as poor as it was we were unlucky against Forest Green we are very strong defensively and we should keep that and just change it like we do when we need. We already have the best home record and in my opinion we should play on the break away we have the players to do that. Overall as Bowyer points out teams usually suffer from a hangover after relegation we haven’t we steadily moving to where we want to be

Strange to think that with us being high up the table that none of our squad seem to have an interest shown in them. Good in terms of team stability, i think half of Crewe's first team are on bigger teams radars. But does show that no individual has really stood out this year bar the stability of O'Connor.
