True, but Bobby Campbell was shown the door by Halifax, Huddersfield, Sheffield United, Aston Villa & Northern Ireland.

Let's judge him on what he does here and keep in mind that Mark Hughes has signed him, signed him early and paid a fee.

Stephan Rupp has nothing to do with any of the players we are signing and is clearly backing Hughes.

 

Walsall fans on twitter are not impressed with him. Says he has an attitude. I am sure we have done due diligence, just a bit worrying. I like players who roll their sleeves up when the going gets tough

 

do not give a damn what happened there. its what happens for us, Welcome lad, give your all and you will be loved by the fans. its all we ask.

 

I'm not too fussed about players giving a bit back as long as you see an improvement. Too many fans dish out awful abuse but then throw their toys out of the pram if they are challenged

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I'm with @Sergio Pinto III . Its sensible PR to maintain a sense of optimism and positivity whilst STs are on sale. How much of a material difference it makes, who knows. But there's only upside to doing it. Not just in terms of overall supporter mood - fans are more likely to support the club financially if they're in a good mindset, but it COULD also tempt those on the fence, and I'm an example. The last 3 weeks, I've had my usual Friday evening pint with my old man and 2 other mates. Between us, there are 4 adult and 3 junior STs that lapsed 2 years ago. We all lost belief in where the club was going and frankly, we lost trust in the capability of those running it. Recruitment has been a joke for a while. For the last 3 weeks, we've umm'd and ah'd about whether to get STs and we've never quite felt compelled. Yet. And whilst I'm not consciously sat here thinking 'I'll wait to see who we buy first', if the club DID land 2-3 really top drawer signings in the run up to the ST deadline, it could be the tipping point for us to say 'do you know what, sod it, things really do look and feel different and we look to be seriously ambitious, not just talking the talk'.

There are die hard fans who buy STs no matter what. I was one for 20 years.

And there are 'floating ' fans, or fans who've just become a bit disengaged. Its that group that need to be influenced.

And every club does it. An example right at the top end of the scale - look at how Man United manipulate social media to generate clicks through constant links to player signings. Every club plays the game.

I remember previous pre-seasons where it was just like tumbleweed - no updates, no signings for weeks. It drains the mood.

 

Just got in to this. Good luck to the lad, never heard of him but gets a fresh start from me. Seems like it’s attitude over ability that’s the problem, let’s hope this is where man management comes in. Mark Marshall looked poor under Parky and had been banned for drugs before, Stuart got the best out of him. Our all time top scorer Bobby another bad boy, let’s hope this is where he finds a home an comes good. We’ve written off players who’ve done well elsewhere so we deserve some of that look for a change, they also wrote off Clarke when he became manager of Port Vale and constantly abused Andy Cook despite being their top scorer with 18 in a season so they do have a history of bitterness towards ex employees, bit like us.

Hopefully it means the other two rumours that the Twitter account put up also come good although until I see them in that blue training jacket I won’t be convinced we have much of a chance.

 

Yep, and it was clearly a done deal when those rumours emerged looking at the state of the pitch, so fingers crossed

 

Sounding all happy clapper but I guess we're gonna have to trust the clubs judgement. The rumour was this lad, Harratt, Smallwood and Oduisina from Hartlepool. We'll two of them have signed and Id be happy with Smallwood.

 

It just drives me nuts. All anyone need do is look at the news on the website or Twitter feed to get it right.
Every time I see Vernam spelt incorrectly it makes me cringe.

Exactly. When OConnor, Watt and Vernam move on this board will be full of spiteful comments on their character and ability just like Walsall fans. Lets trust Sparky on all our signings.
