I’m on the OZEV list and did a grant install back in feb that I am still waiting to be paid for by the govt. i shan’t be doing any more grant installs, again the domestic one finished end of march and not going near the new ones that’s in place now. The process and paperwork was an absolute joke, let alone me not even seeing any money for the work i did, yet.

having said that, I’m getting a few queries from folk just wanting one installed, but not many and it’s a fraction of the type of electrical work i generally do. But no doubt it’ll change, you see a fair few electric vehicles up here, but given the remoteness it looks like a ball ache until the infrastructure improves. Plus yes, it’s well out of reach of the majority of people. You have money, you can save even more - makes no sense. But it’s the way of the world.

 

Batteries run down over time and take longer to charge and hold that charge less, Selling one after 5 years will not be easy with a need for a new battery maybe costing thousands

 

this was just a standard install, I couldn’t believe all the paperwork and photos that needed uploading. I shouldn’t have been surprised having been away on the course (you do live in hope it’ll be an easy process though), we have so much paperwork and certification in the industry anyway, I guess why not pile some more on. You can see why large firms go after this stuff, they have admin etc, or maybe if a smaller firm you focus in on doing lots of them. Not possible here as there’s not enough of it, and you do a range of different things. Bloke has his charger though working away, he’d pay me as I’ve done work for him before, but at least the materials are paid for, I guess I just have to wait in the queue with the bowl for the grant (not impressed).
