One of our biggest imports in this country are 'people' yet they in theory should be working and paying taxes to support extra doctors, hospitals and schools etc to meet the extra demand....but are they...?

According to MigrationWatch (who incidentally aren't the greatest fans of UK immigration policy to put it mildly) reported recently on some research commissioned by the Migration Advisory Committe which came out with three important conclusions.

Firstly, EU citizens living in the UK pay more in tax, NI etc than they take out in benefits, education, health services etc to the tune of several billions. Or if you like, EU citizens in the UK are net contributers to the UK economy

Secondly, non-EU citizens take out more in services, benefits etc than they contribute in taxes etc, ie they are net beneficiaries from the UK economy

Finally, UK citizens born in the UK also take out more in benefits, educational and health services etc than they pay in taxes. Or if you like, collectively we don't pay as much tax as we should for the state provided services.

These conclusions broadly reflect what other studies have shown and back up what the Govt's own independent advisor, Office of Budget Responsibility has said.

Forget the myths, ignore the prejudice, question the press and focus on the impact on our economy of immigration as you rightly did in raising your question. The facts contradict much of what is commonly believed. Looking back, a key feature of the Leave campaign was to curtail EU freedom of movement and by inference, encourage more non-EU immigration to helpour economy grow. They got their argument the wrong way round so far as freedom of movement is concerned!

To be fair Tone i ain't voting either. No way would i give the time of day to three shiesters like Johnson, Corbyn and Swinson. I'm not voting for one on the basis 'well at least its not as bad as the others' and that to me is pointless.

You don’t have to understand it’s a democracy and I’ll be exercising my right not to bother, the leaders of each party are a joke who spend more time point scoring than making votable policies.

During the euro elections the wife voted for the Yorkshire Party as she loathes the mainstream clowns.

Dont know if they are fielding local candidates at this GE but if you are fed up check their website and see if they are worth voting for.

And then you see the comments from Rees-Mogg (and Baroness Lawrence) in relation to the Grenfell disaster and you wonder why people like myself refuse to vote. The whole f*cking house of commons is rotten to the core. I'm sick of seeing examples every single day about how out of touch with the electorate the whole political spectrum is. I don't think i'd ever tire of punching the face of Rees-Mogg.

More reason for you to do your bit and help to elect someone that reflects your views and values, not voting means that you cannot complain afterwards when those that get in behave like the current lot...just sayin'

And vote for what? I'll vote when there is a credible option from a party interested in taking this country forward to some sort of planned future. None of the options (in my opinion) are fit for any purpose whatsoever. Sick of seeing pledges that are never acted upon, 'promises' that are never kept.

Non of them reflect my views, I can’t speak for Rog. That’s the whole point, I’d find it hypocritical to vote for someone on the basis of them being the least worst outcome. If people refused to vote on mass it would send out a far bigger message than just meekly voting for the status quo. The only way the political system will ever change is if people say enough, but sadly they won’t do the politicians who don’t give a toss about me or you can continue to ride the gravy train.

I’ll moan whoever gets in for the simple fact I don’t think any of them are worthy to run this country. Someone at work today talked about voting for a least worst case scenario, then said it’d be good if it were a Labour coalition with the Greens and SNP I nearly fell off my seat.

As the great Edmund Burke once said, for evil to succeed, it is only necessary for good men to do nothing.

If everyone on mass refused to vote it’d not be doing nothing at all, it’d be rebelling against a flawed system. Doing nothing is doing the same old thing that’s got us to this situation we find ourselves in with a bunch of incompetent arsewholes running the show. They want you to vote, but what you want won’t come into it.

There's an increasingly right wing Tory Party, a left of centre Labour Party and the Liberals pretty squarely in the middle.
How many shades of grey do you want?

I’d say Labour are a bit more than left of centre if the Torys are increasingly right wing. But each to their own. I’d be more willing to vote liberal if they weren’t so adamant they were going to totally ignore what over 17 million people voted for. Why do views have to be so fixed to left, centre or right? Can I not agree with one party on one thing but disagree with it on others? Is that how we’ve become now pin your colours to the mast and blindly vote for someone. Okay
