Whilst true, this is no different to any lower league club chasing promotion. Under the guidance of Rhodes/Lawn, we often renewed contracts at the end of the season. And didn’t Rhodes ‘advise’ when he sold up?

Besides, irrespective of whether contracts had been offered wary or not, Mezza and Marshall had made it clear they wanted Championship football / a club down South irrespective.

No we didn't. Mezza, McCardle, Darby, Wells & Hanson, off the top of my head, signed new contracts whilst in contract. If we wanted you to stay, we sorted it out.

We didn't wait until the end of the contract and wonder why everyone wants to knick our best players.

As has been detailed, Edin didn't need Rhodes' advice any more, after 3 weeks.

I could be wrong but like Boing I thought at that time we waited until the end of the season to sort contracts out, especially the history makers season as we didn't want to disrupt the flow. Like I say I could be wrong.

For me it's never been about finances, I'm not one on here who demands they spend, spend, spend and calls them tight fisted etc. I don't see it. We are probably there or there about what we've always been at this level in recent years, it's how it's spent that concerns me, very much shades of 2011(which I would happily have seen the back of Lawn and Rhodes at that time).

One thing I can't stand is incompetence, and Rahic in particular has that trait in abundance. It's common sense that if you over stretch your playing staff whilst keeping the same budget the overall quality is serious diminished, we've seen this story before and it's not one I wanted to re-read.

So if anyone wants them out because they aren't spending loads then I can't agree with you, and wouldn't want any protests to be because of that. This isn't Blackburn, many of who's fans threw their toys out of the pram because they weren't spending as much as when they were in the Prem. Lets not cheapen the cause here.

The accounts you posted are the last accounts produced by the club. They're for the year ending 30 June 2017 and therefore cover the 2016/17 season and comparisons with the previous year. The accounts for the last season (year ending 30 June 2018) don't have to be lodged with Companies House until March 2019. And just to be clear, it's one of the club's directors who has to sign off the club's accounts on behalf of the board and not one of the club's accountants .

There are two important bits of info so far as the Fixed Assets are concerned. Firstly that the Fixed Assets are all the tangible assets (things you can touch and feel) eg lighting, seating etc which aren't covered by the lease for VP. Anything which ML has threatened to move to Odsal in the past during one of his fits of pique are included in here alongside cars, computers, fixtures etc! It's been around the £1m mark for many years.

Secondly, in 2016/17 there appeared a new item called 'Investments' of around £511k. Despite what it's called, that's the figure for transfer fees we paid out during 2016/17 for Wyke, Vince, Poleon etc.

The vast majority were on two year deals from the history makers season.

Carl McHugh left as he wasn't going to get first team football.
We released Duke. Doyle signed for another year. Jones extended automatically as we got promoted.
All other established players were under contract.

Yes under contract but they didn't take about extending contracts until the end of the season is what I meant rather than out of contract at the end of that season. Like I say I could be (probably are) wrong but remember a situation like that.

I imagine that is because he has been responsible for the serious decline in our beloved football club. As you have heard like I have rumours of a high handed and dismissive behaviour towards staff that have been here many years. For me there is a way to conduct yourself when working with staff who are in a junior position even when you are dismissing them. It doesn’t paint a pretty picture. If Julian is able to impart anything it is how to gracious, inclusive, listening to junior staff they may have pearls of wisdom to impart, to actually care about this club.

This club is not about bricks and mortar or a vehicle to make money, it is much more it’s about a living breathing fan base, who understand the heritage of being a Bantam and continue to support the club, squad and team through the hard times as well as the good. To deliberately push that aside by not taking care, is the ultimate insult to a proud club of our stature. Rahic pleas for unity and support are now falling deaf ears, mainly because the fans or ie me feel like we are on the outside looking in.

I don’t want my club to be relegated and I know i feel like King Canute, but I really don’t want relegation because it will be worse than last time. The one thing that Rahic can do now in order to bring the fans back into fold, and that is to be completely anonymous, let Julian take the plaudits yes he is still largely to blame, and that will continue. He needs to work hard on the tasks that he can do, but for sake of this club keep his head down and learn.

I think the only solution is Edin has to go, at what stage does Julian and Stefan say he has learnt and can take full control again, that is a frightening prospect to any Bradford City fan, Im not sure he would have any credability going forward.

you can only open contract talks if a player and his representatives are willing to do so. if a player is confident that they will (a) either gain promotion with their current club, or (b) if they don't gain promotion with their current club, one of the other promoted clubs or one from the tier above will come in for them - they are in a position of strength and aren't likely to tie themselves down on a poorer deal than one they could negotiate 6 months down the line.

just because clubs want to negotiate at a certain moment in time, it doesn't mean the player or his representatives do. the club are then hardly going to disrupt the flow of a positive season and possibly cause a negative reaction by other players and fans by saying in the open media they are trying to negotiate but the player in question is refusing.

if a team and a player is doing well, the player will always hold the cards when it comes to any future deal.

It has been mentioned fairly regularly that we should have tied down key players to contracts when in reality its near impossible to do so. Its like the Aaron Ramsey situation at Arsenal. Fans are aggrieved that Arsenal haven't tied him down to a contract but his agent knows they hold all the cards. Same with us and Meredith, he knew there was demand from elsewhere, why sign a new contract and limit your options.

yep. at some point each player has to make a choice - whether that be to leave or stay during contract negotiations. then there are other factors that they have to take in to account; money, family, location, length of deal, level of club etc etc. fans love the ideology that players want to play for their club and would do anything for that privilege, when in reality most will go where the best deal is for them and their families and use lower league clubs as a stepping stone to something better.

Rahic still has full control Dave. Bringing in Julian to advise him doesn’t change that. He can accept the suggestions or not, those are his choices. The fact Rupp has reiterated that Hopkin will have full control of transfers. Has been given the go-ahead to sign free agents and now signed off a couple of incentives to bring back fans, is a start.

We have 2 choices. Stand behind our CLUB and do all WE can to stop the slide, or refuse to attend until Rahic has gone and then give ourselves a pat on the back when he does, even if we are in the Conference and faced with a real possibility of extinction....!

Let’s at least see if changes are visible come January and if nothing has, then give Rahic (and Rupp) both barrels.

Not to mention, making it public that we are offering new deals to some but not all. I’m sure that would go down really well, when these players are working hard to keep us in a PO position but knowing they won’t be offered new terms....!

As previously stated, McCardle, Darby, Meredith, Hanson, Wells & Clarke all signed contracts well before current deals ended.

    That didn't upset the team.

If the club wants to keep you they sort it out.

If you can't see that Edin's goal all along was to dramatically reduce the wage bill and get the top earners out, then I can't help you.

And as I’ve said before, if that is your only argument and even this lacks evidence, I can’t help you either.

It’s common knowledge that Wyke wasn’t on big money (more than he got at Carlisle but allegedly not as much as Hanson was on). Do you not think Doyle came on a decent salary? He’s probably earning more than Wyke was on. Same goes with the likes of Akpan, O’Donnell and Scannell. And nobody knows the percentage we are paying towards the loanees’ salaries.

Some claim the squad(s) were broken up just to reduce the budget. But Mezza left because he wanted Championship football, McCall claimed we had offered our highest ever wage to a L1 footballer when trying to get Marshall to stay and rumours claimed it wasn’t the weekly wage McArdle turned down (it was the length of contract). But you refuse to accept any other views are possible...!
