I like your posts, they always throw in an alternative view, a bit like the Earths flat and Man hasn't landed on the Moon.

Edin Rahic is a human being, like the rest of us. Being as such, he will have his good points and his bad points and all in between, but I would seriously question his ability to run a football club successfully, that is my only issue with him.

I think he’s got away really lightly. He does n’t deserve it. Decimating the club from the inside, it appears Parky, McCall and Grayson could n’t agree with his vision or management and all would have told him as I’m sure just about everyone in football did. Parky and Grayson left because they did n’t want anything to do with him. The appointment of Collins? Seriously? Take a breath and think about that one. Deluded!

Have n’t even got into letting established players go to reduce the wage bill, ‘I know football’ interference, scatter gun approach to recruitment, pushing the feeder club idea, deflecting poor recruitment to fans unrest being a cause, the big ‘I am’ nonsense promises about Championship in 3 years, ‘we are’ backing SM in the last January window. Not replacing key football club positions inside the club and causing a City fan COO to walkout. Pre season, fitness coach etc etc etc. Wow. Personal or not, he’s destroyed 5 years of progress and he has n’t finished yet. I just wish he’d go.

Excellent post Jon and one that I agree totally with. I’d even go further to add that I actually want to like them, I enjoyed seeing their happiness when we got to the play off final and I wanted to see more of that for them just as much as for us. Sadly it’s the seemingly endless string of mistakes that drive my wish for them to go.

Good post @JonButterfield@JonButterfield but it is personal for me now, that bloke has ruined our club with his self egoist do as i say or leave attitude, that bloke is a dictator, he has no respect for anybody and does not care who he upsets on his way to destroying our club. I do not hate him, but i do have a very intense dislike to him.

It's personal in that ER has put us all through this and taken some of the joy out of our lives so he can live out some delusional fantasy and feed his desperately fragile ego but if he was vaguely competent no one would care. The bottom line is he can't do his job.

Perhaps something on the lines of this may help Rahic?

'As a leader, changing your mind has always been perceived as a weakness. Not anymore. In a world that's changing faster than ever, successful leaders realize that a genuine willingness to change their own minds is the ultimate competitive advantage'.

If there is change at the top, then learn how others of far bigger enterprises can adapt to survive!

Perhaps @JonButterfield@JonButterfield could use any surplus money and buy a copy and post it to Julian Rhodes so as a consultant he can hand it to Edin?

As a fan, I try and not to get involved in the off the field matters and my view that we need Rahic out stems purely from the way he's dismantled a squad and set up capable of achieving promotion with cost cutting measures and introducing bizarre policies that now see us hurtling to League Two.

No matter which barometer you take to measure progress this season, we are shocking. League position, goals scored, goals against, GD, even xG etc....we are rooted to the bottom and deserve to be there.

Rahic has tried to fleece everybody with this supposed idea that we need to develop young players and sell them on for profit.....but only Charlie Wyke has been developed and sold in their time here. Now the development squad has been scrapped and he's bringing in players from Huddersfield and talking about feeder clubs being a good idea. He would say that, loaning players on the cheap and filling a squad without having the outlay on wages.

I am not being funny either, we got lucky with Wyke because his get out clause was so low at Carlisle....it would have been hard not to develop him from a 250k player as we got him on the cheap in the first place. He was probably worth 1-2m the previous January too, so we still can feel a bit disappointed to get 750k from him by hanging onto him and seeing his form and value dip.

The real reason Rahic said we needed to develop younger players was that it could reduce the clubs wage bill. Instead of offering 5k to proven L1 squad, he could get players in on half the money. Money on wages is never recouped, but he invested in in transfer fees for the likes of Poleon, McCartan and Reeves thinking even if their value depreciated, we'd still be able to recoup something that way. Unfortunately the people he trusted with recruitment, including himself, have done an awful job.

Unfortunately the people he trusted with recruitment, including himself, have done an awful job.

He has tried to introduce the (German) concept of incentivised contracts at a British club, playing in a British league and competing against other British clubs for players. His idea was never going to work (the players you need just go to Scunthorpe or any other club who will pay) and I've had a problem with it from day one. He defended it by saying he wants players who want to be at the club. So what, that doesn't mean players who want to be here will also be good enough for the club. It is just it fit with his philosophy of recruiting on low wages.

He has tried to streamline the club, like most new owners of a business probably do, but chosing to cut wages was a big no no. Wage spend is one of the biggest predictors of success (more than transfer fees).

Twice the players, half the wages, similar overall budget, much worse results.

Like many knew when Rahic started talking about developing young players, we've been here before and it was a horror show.

It's sad that our demise was predicted, correctly, from the outset. Just a perfect example of someone not learning from history or the advice of his peers.

Spot on the money that. A very well articulated post Jon.

    Might I also add the following;
What if change has already happened and for the better. Hasn’t Rahic agreed to take a step back and allow Hopkin full control over the team affairs – including transfers?

Don’t get me wrong. If somebody gave me the option of retaining Rahic and Rupp or accept a buyout from a Lawn and Rhodes then it’s bye bye Rahic and Rupp for me. However, we can’t forget that our ownership situation is nothing like that of Blackpool, Charlton or Coventry. Rahic and Rupp genuinely want to bring success to Bradford City and are certainly not on an asset stripping mission – what assets?

Rupp is the invester – and he has invested – and Rahic has day to day management of that investment – which he has failed spectacularly at so far. Brining in Rhodes is a wise move and let’s hope Rahic swallows his pride, learns from his mistakes – and if people genuinely learn from them for the better I can forgive them – and allows Rhodes to make some positive changes to the clubs structure.

The frustrating part now – if the above changes have and are happening – is having to wait. Little can be done to the playing squad until Jan. We have to hope that we can stay in touch of those places above the relegation zone come the transfer window and push on from there. With regards to off field matters, I hope communication between club and fans is improved upon and quickly.

“and are certainly not on an asset stripping mission - what assets?”

No idea, as they refuse to publish full accounts (I know they don’t have to). But from the info they have released, they valued our assets as £3m at the end of their first fiscal year and only £1m at the end of the last.

Out of interest do you know what the assets were valued at in previous years? Only Assets I can think of is the players, maybe the drop was as Wyke got closer to end of his contract?

“purely from the way he’s dismantled a squad...”.

Just remind me, how did he dismantle the squad? Meredith has already decided to leave, as did Marshall. We got good money for Clarke and most argued he was ‘marmite’ anyway. McCall made the decision to release Darby and McArdle got a better offer from Scunny. Hardly Rahic’s choice to dismantle.

Then, at the end of last season, most fans were glad to see their whipping boys leave. The likes of Law, Poleon, Dieng, McMahon were “rubbished” by many fans on here and even Vincelot came in for stick following the last 4mths of the season.

Rahic is to blame for the mess we find ourselves in, but getting the blame for “dismantling the squad”, really?

Sorry mate, I have no idea. I was talking to my father-in-law a couple of weeks ago about our plight and the rumours we were supposedly falsifying figures. Then last Sunday he said he had downloaded the reports from Companies House and whilst it didn’t provide the full accounts, this was the key thing he picked up on.

My father-in-law is an accountant and tax consultant, so unlike me, knows his onions
