Serious question, what's our end goal?

Because I'll tell you one thing, the majority would swap the end goals with those two clubs in a breath.

We have spent big over past few years and it didn’t work. Spending big is no guarantee of anything, even now

My favourite City team of all time, the mid 80's team assembled by Cherry and Yorath, was a misfit collection of young free transfer and older characters , and the management team managed to gel a wonderful team to watch, and be successful at the same time.

It definitely can be achieved without spending big at this level. You only have to look at Wycombe and Accrington in the present day, 2 clubs who have massively over achieved recently if you compare their budgets with other teams they were competing with.

Would be interesting to see how much we spent in those days in comparison to other teams

My favourite City team too Idle
You have hit the nail on the head with "misfit collection" assembled by Cherry and Yorath plus management team, football men who had a vision
Sadly none of the present management/directors come remotely close to repeating that
Parky did it but saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship

You're 100% right success on the pitch can be achieved without spending a lot of money. I will use Liverpool as example. They don't spend a lot in terms of net spend. Andy Robinson 8m. TAA from youth, Milner on a free, Mane 25m, Gomez 2m, I could go on and these players are now world class.

Wycombe and Accington are decent examples but here is the thing. You can't improve on the pitch if you are not improving off it...Seriously football is different than the bloody 60's. If you want to act like a Sunday League team get changed into you kit and play then as a club you will go nowhere. For years on here I have been trying to highlight the club needs to improve OFF the pitch to improve on it but no and now we find ourselves making excuses for failure and wondering how we are in division 2. Look at the examples below. The teams all mentioned by us are improving off the pitch:

    https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/17693166.deal-agreed-accrington-stanley-training-base/

    https://www.wycombewanderers.co.uk/news/2020/july/wanderers-and-landways-announce-major-new-digital-infrastructure-project-for-adams-park/

    https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-given-exciting-new-glimpse-18335366

Yes, you also need a good coach but I can't express how vital off the pitch is. Leeds owner the first thing he did was buy Elland Rd.

Under Rhodes we do nothing. Rupp has been a disappointment. Bradford City is a backwards club. A club going nowhere fast. It's fail on and off the pitch.

I call for Rhodes to leave now. He's done what he needs too be we just go nowhere under him and he doesn't protect the club and Rupp needs to urgently decide if he is serious about this club or not but Rhodes must go.

The player linked to City is apparently Alex Gillead.
Don't know how true this rumour is though.

We understand that Bradford City are exploring the possibility of a return to Valley Parade for winger Alex Gillead. Stuart McCall wants one more winger and then will move his attention to CM and RB #BCAFC

He has a year left on his contract at Scunthorpe so can’t see it

All sorts of speculation as to who the mystery ex player is don't know why they just don't make it public knowledge it's not as if any other club would be interested in signing him
Gillead is a good shout played for us before and also under Stuart at Scunthorpe (were they really that good for us to want their cast offs) so fits the criteria
Another lazy lazy unambitious signing (if true)

It’s not city causing the speculation it’s a rumour site. Gilliead is a decent winger 35 games with 6 goals last season but we already now have 2 right wingers

True but the speculation starts somewhere
However we have had unbalanced sides before and still have
2 in 48 whilst with us hardly prolific

Your spot on the speculation does start somewhere.
It would a boring old world without speculation eg Clarke, Sutton and Watt all started out as rumours.

Most of the online speculation sites are just full of bullshit. The Gilliead one being a case in point, as park says we now have cover in the position he plays, i'm pretty sure McCall will sign yet more players he knows but Gilliead won't be one of them.

Sorry I'm not having that. He was poor for us and weak. I really hope its not him.

Why the need for past players, especially lightweights? We need bite in the middle of the pitch and a no nonsense DMF.

And that sentence in your reply is nothing more than speculation is it not ?

You're being way to simplistic to try and prove your point. We've already stated we belive it will come in based on meetings where we know the numbers of clubs that would vote for it and I've read it in other non-Bradford newspapers too.

So, you're right it hasn't come in but it's sensible business to assume something is going to happen if you have evidence that you think it will. Then if it doesn't, we're in a better place, aren't we?

Based on McCalls signings so far and our transfer policy of recent years. We won't sign Gilliead but we will sign another player with a link to McCall or the club. Its nailed on.
