Harratts a conundrum now. No doubt he's a quality striker, but I don't think he's a lone striker. Hughes said the other night that Harratt likes to play down the middle but he has had to fit him in in a wider role. Now we have so many wide players how do we make room for possibly our most naturally gifted striker.

We won't see Osadebe for a long time yet, I would also put money on Angol and Eisa barely playing either due to injury so that takes it down to 7. Hughes likes to tinker and there's a lot of football to be played so I think it will work out okay and we'll mix and match as the season goes on. I also think the players that have come in means it will be curtains for Eisa at the least by the end of the season, or potentially even in January if we can find someone to take him then.

If I am brutally honest I am a little worried. 15 players over the summer doesn't seem enough for Hughes and looks like he is already doubting 1 or 2 he has given new deals too or brought in.

While it is always nice to have options, a tight knit squad also has its merits. Easier to keep players happy and reduces the wage bill. Wonder how much we are paying for some of these - can;t help but feel we could have invested loan fees/salaries into something more permanent with real quality.

Less is more some times. I just hope Hughes knows what he is doing because at the moment he doesnt seem satisfied or know his best 11.

Good news, both these signings. No-one can say that the club haven’t pushed the boat out. Not that guarantees success, but the manager has certainly been backed. Goals has been the issue, so pleased with these two.

Although I agree, another left back and central midfielder would be ideal, the priority we need to address right now is having pace and creativity to unlock defences.

Scoring goals - particularly at home - has been the big issue so the arrival of Wright and Perreia goes some way to addressing this.

I think he has recognised that full backs at this level don’t make them wing backs. Now they will have pacy wingers in front of them, it will help them defend as not as much work to do. CM will be able to control the game better. Just my view of course.

I think you are spot on. Saturday's team selection and the way we play will be interesting to see. Fingers crossed MH has brought in the right solutions to our current problems.

Dave (@Bronco@Bronco) has been in Sparky's ear. We're going back to the future and implementing a 2-3-5 formation.

Agree with much of that Sergio. Out of interest, who do you think he is doubting now?
I also see can see a situation where Critchlow and Harratt might be recalled in Jan. Critchlow because he is playing so well and Harratt because we aren't giving him enough game time.

I know we have a lot of attacking players but I think we're making early moves on trying to get the maximum advantage out of the new five subs rule.

I can see Hughes continuing to make what would historically feel like early subs just because he can - if he makes 2 changes at half time or say 55 mins, there's still the possibility to make another three later on if we need to change again.

It's good to try and see what advantage we can get out of these changing rules. All too often you'll look at some new trend that's coming in at premier league level or maybe international level and then a while after others will start to do it.

I think Wright will be used as an impact sub mainly

A bit disappointed he's only on another loan but the new contract at Luton is probably just to ensure they can command a fee for him at a later date..

Really happy with the signing. Dion reminds me a lot of Jadon Sancho the way he can effortlessly glide past 2,3 players in one run. He is exactly the sort of player we need on the wing when we are up against teams playing a low block when we are at home. Someone who can create something out of nothing

Dion signed a new contract with Luton.

So maybe that’s why they allowed him to drop back down to league 2.

Spot on. Teams at this level get promoted by doing the basics well. Full backs defending and not trying to be PL wingbacks is one of those. 4231 isn't a winger based formation, and out of possession can be incredibly defensive, but now we have two genuine wingers we have to change. That brings a second striker into play and hopefully more goals.

If the wingers tackle back we don't get overrun or we could see a 3/5/2 with no genuine fullbacks.

Based on what we saw of him last season and based on our new recruits showing in the first few games this season, it could be argued that Dion is the best bit of business we've done all summer, and to use an old cliche, saved the best 'til last.

It's quite bewildering how people on here are still trying to find negatives with this one.
