Surprised with this, given the addition of Wright. Taken in context though, it would seem that Wright will be very much a backup. Nevertheless we're now quite stacked in the wide positions, though it should mean Angol doesn't feature on the left which is a plus.

I assume we're now done, though I'd really like a quality, deep lying playmaker next to Smallwood.

 

This, I like. I think Dion is exactly the type of tricky player who can wriggle through packed areas of the pitch and can cause all sorts of problems for teams who sit deep against us.

 

Excellent news. There's the key to unlocking these deep lying defences!

Good options out wide with some added pace. It will be interesting to see if there are any more additions made before the deadline. It's refreshing to see we have got the deals done early today and they will be involved in training this morning.

Saturday should be an interesting game.

True, but you could argue win the ball and give to these creative players higher up the pitch.

 

I thought I'd read it was a one year extension..obviously I was mistaken.

 

Don't really want to be negative but I just can't see the logic in another 2 attacking midfielders. Given where we've been using everyone so far (and when everyone is fit) that's;

Walker,
Angol,
Chapman,
Banks,
Young,
Harratt,
Eisa,
Osedebe,
Wright,
Perreia.

10 players for 3 positions plus an incredible 4 loan slots used.

We were crying out for more quality on central midfield and possibly a better left back so for me, it would have been better balanced if we'd have added one of these two positions instead.

 

Not sure why we didn't mention it on our official statement on the signing, but Luton do on theirs. They didn't mention the length of the new deal, just he's signed a new one. He had an optional one more year after this season, so most likely signed on for another 2?

You would think 1 or 2 maybe leave to balance the books.

Eisa might be paid off.
Walker may be injured for longer than first feared.
Harratt is mainly a CF so will be mainly contending with Cook and Oliver.
Osadebe out until January.

While I find it strange we brought in 2 wingers, as things stand we only have Young, Angol, Chapman, Banks, Wright and Dion vying for those 3 shirts. It is still probably 1 too many all things considered.
