I don’t know what Luton or Dion expect? The guy has played the majority of our games, when he really doesn’t warrant it. He runs around absolutely half-arsed and let’s be honest it’s only the last couple of games he’s played a part. Banks would be an ideal replacement should Dion be recalled, I certainly wouldn’t be losing any sleep over it. Huge anti climax as far as I’m concerned

This, I like. I think Dion is exactly the type of tricky player who can wriggle through packed areas of the pitch and can cause all sorts of problems for teams who sit deep against us.

I know we have a lot of attacking players but I think we're making early moves on trying to get the maximum advantage out of the new five subs rule.

I can see Hughes continuing to make what would historically feel like early subs just because he can - if he makes 2 changes at half time or say 55 mins, there's still the possibility to make another three later on if we need to change again.

It's good to try and see what advantage we can get out of these changing rules. All too often you'll look at some new trend that's coming in at premier league level or maybe international level and then a while after others will start to do it.

    Don't really want to be negative but I just can't see the logic in another 2 attacking midfielders. Given where we've been using everyone so far (and when everyone is fit) that's;

    Walker,
    Angol,
    Chapman,
    Banks,
    Young,
    Harratt,
    Eisa,
    Osedebe,
    Wright,
    Perreia.

10 players for 3 positions plus an incredible 4 loan slots used.

We were crying out for more quality on central midfield and possibly a better left back so for me, it would have been better balanced if we'd have added one of these two positions instead.

Great news this. Hats off to Rupp for backing MH this summer. Over to you now Mark to get the best out of this squad and launch a serious push for promotion now

Irrespective of how the cash has been generated, Rupp has let the money be spent, so yes he's backed Hughes.

Dave (@Bronco@Bronco) has been in Sparky's ear. We're going back to the future and implementing a 2-3-5 formation.

    It's bollocks.

He's played for both us and Luton this year so can't play for another club this season.

Hughes is telling them what he wants, and they're doing it.

I'm sure there is some push back, but they're definitely backing him.

Should definitely be top 7 with this squad now.

Too right. I've worked under right idiots who hadn't a clue about how to manage people, but I always supported my teams as best I could despite the interference of those who thought they knew better. Some of those who worked for me ten years ago still call me "boss" as a result.

    My view is:
Plus= Good tight control. Can pick a good pass.
Minus= Not fast. Seems to lose concentration. Could track back more. Seems reluctant to head the ball.
As things stand I wouldn’t be too upset to see him go.
    He needs to offer more.
With Eisa back in contention and Banks, then not sure he deserves a starting place.

Excellent news. There's the key to unlocking these deep lying defences!

Good options out wide with some added pace. It will be interesting to see if there are any more additions made before the deadline. It's refreshing to see we have got the deals done early today and they will be involved in training this morning.

Saturday should be an interesting game.

If I am brutally honest I am a little worried. 15 players over the summer doesn't seem enough for Hughes and looks like he is already doubting 1 or 2 he has given new deals too or brought in.

While it is always nice to have options, a tight knit squad also has its merits. Easier to keep players happy and reduces the wage bill. Wonder how much we are paying for some of these - can;t help but feel we could have invested loan fees/salaries into something more permanent with real quality.

Less is more some times. I just hope Hughes knows what he is doing because at the moment he doesnt seem satisfied or know his best 11.

Although I agree, another left back and central midfielder would be ideal, the priority we need to address right now is having pace and creativity to unlock defences.

Scoring goals - particularly at home - has been the big issue so the arrival of Wright and Perreia goes some way to addressing this.

I think he has recognised that full backs at this level don’t make them wing backs. Now they will have pacy wingers in front of them, it will help them defend as not as much work to do. CM will be able to control the game better. Just my view of course.

TBH Sergio think football has moved on from having a 'best eleven' It's much more a squad game, particularly with the new extra subs rule.
