I agree with you that another failure to achieve promotion will have enormous consequences for our club. Most fans only watch the home performances and they leave a lot to be desired! More of the same won't keep bums on seats. And after last season's failure as Sparks described it, I'm not sure another similar failure will be accepted by many fans.
Unfortunately, I remain of the view that we aren't quite good enough to clinch one of the auto spots. With a fair wind, we are likely to finish in a play-off position but then we are simply part of the lottery with a 25% chance of taking the 4th spot. And whilst the transfer window may provide an opportunity to strengthen the squad (and I hope we can take advantage of that), it also provides some risk. Three of our better players - Crichlow, Banks and Wright - could be recalled by their parent club and loaned out elsewhere. Any one of them would be a loss imo. What happens in January will determine the rest of our season.

I’ve been against this formation from the start. To be fair to Hughes, it has yielded excellent away results, but it just isn’t good enough at home.
I find us dull, boring and predictable. If we find a way to win those matches I wouldn’t be so fussed. Adored Parky and he was cut from the same cloth. But our home form is wretched.
are we incapable of using a different set up at home compared to away? It doesnt say much for the coaching staff that they haven’t found a way to break these teams down when the same flaws have been evident since the Doncaster game.
was willing to give us the benefit of the doubt that day as the Osadebe leg break effected the game. But we’re still so slow at getting it forward, freeze cook out of games, contribute little goals from elsewhere in the side. Do we even work on set pieces? How many have we bagged from corners this year, for example?
Hughes seems a top bloke. I really hope he succeeds, but I’ve got my doubts. Every home game is awful.Bantam Boy, Kopendin1964, Dubois and 5 others like this. -

Easy 12 points. Anything less will be disappointing.

No need to panic.
The league is very inconsistent below the top 2.
It's no surprise that those top 2 teams have managers who've done it before.
To lose twice and still be 6 points off 3rd and still in the top 7 shows that if this is just a blip which I believe it is, then 2 wins before Christmas puts us right back on track.Keefly Bantam, Bronco, Morley Bantam and 1 other person like this. -

The performances have been shaky as a whole all season and we're yet to dominate a side in the way both Northampton and Orient (after the first 10 minutes) dominated us.
You can dress it up all you want and manipulate the stats to back up your positive spin but fans can see it with their own eyes, regardless of what is written on forums.borderlescott, vladimir, Tony Wilkinson and 1 other person like this. -

It's too early to say whether the longevity of Hughes' reign plays a factor or not, that hinges on how stupid we are as a club, but I'd be giving him next season regardless of the outcome of this campaign - which isn't a popular opinion, but equally, I don't think we're going to plummet down the table anyway. So it's a safe bet that we end up sticking with the big man, IMO.
But the stats tell their own story.
I don't see that you've constructed a narrative, but the data is promising - more promising than our emotions are equipped to deal with right now.
Changing players, managers, heads of recruitments, CEO's, and owners in recent years has got absolutely nowhere. It's actually made things worse.
Things were best under Rhodes, Lawn and Parkinson, when they were working consistently for a few years. Since then, we haven't come close to that level of consistency, and our results have plummeted.
It's too early to pull the plug on Hughes, Gent, or a passing 4-2-3-1 style of play.
We haven't got it perfectly right at the first possible opportunity - but that's no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.WilsdenBantam, Morley Bantam, QCFC BANTAM and 1 other person like this. -

To add from other post.
Both Gillingham and Rochdale in bottom 4 and both lowest scorers in the league. Gillingham haven't scored a goal in the last 6 league games, since 22nd October and have scored 6 goals all season in 20 games.
