Personally I think all this talk of a testimonial match is premature. While I think it is something we would all like to see happen we have to consider the Stephen Darby himself and what he wants. Didn't his statement yesterday ask for privacy while he makes adjustments? I think the last thing the lad needs at the moment is to be thrust into a stadium full of thousands of fans, however well intended.

 

I know we all have our thoughts on what Rahic is doing to our club, but in his interview yesterday he said pretty much the same thing. He alluded to a match but said it was important to consider Darbs and his family and what they wanted when offering City's support

 

Terrible thing to happen to a young man in his prime, my thoughts are with him and his family, Great Player, Keep Fighting Stephen. Certainly puts football in perspective!

 

Upon hearing this news I couldn't quite believe it and to be honest didn't want to believe it. This is truly a terrible illness that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Thoughts are with Stephen, his wife and family right now. I'm certain the Bantams family's support will be fully appreciated by him and those close to him.

Genuinely gutted to hear ahout Darbs. One of the best fullbacks we’ve ever had and a proper leader.
Hope lots can be done for him to raise awareness and funds and show him how much we appreciated what he did for us.

 

Should all the shirts worn today with Darby on the back be auctioned off with every penny going to any sort of fundraising event me may hold

The most dignified response to the news about Stephen's illness is to do absolutely nothing. Just leave him and his family in peace to deal with things as they feel fit. There may be a time for tributes but it isn't now, and, hopefully, won't be for many years to come.
