    Awful news, he'll always be an immortal through his time here along with the rest of the history makers. Never left anything out on the pitch. Thinking of him and his family at this time.

    My Father passed away having suffered this terrible illness. The final six months are the worst, his familys strength will be pushed to the maximum, for sure. My thoughts and prayers will be with the whole of the Darby family.

    I know he didn't spend 10 years with us, but what he achieved here in his 250+ games was more than most players achieve in their careers. Promotion, League Cup Final, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Wigan, Sunderland.

    We should give him a testimonial during next pre-season against Bolton with all monies to him or his chosen charity.

    Stephen gave nothing but great memories as a player, let's hope he creates plenty more for his family beyond the game.

    Absolutely gutted to hear this news. A truly fantastic player and servant to this club and still so young. Life can be so cruel. I really hope the club do the decent thing and put on a fund raising match for him and his family, or at the very least, to raise funds for motor neurone research. So so sad
